~2 and a half months later~
Hannah's P.O.V.
*Beep Beep Beep*
I heard my alarm clock going off, so I got out of bed and got dressed. I don't shower as much as I used to because it's been harder for me to get in and out on my own.
I have a doctors appointment today but Brad can't come because he has a job interview at neighborhood bakery. I'm now eight and a half months pregnant and my due date is only two weeks away.
"Do you want me to drive you to your appointment on my way to my interview?" Brad asked, while putting on a tie.
"Sure, but then how would I get home?" I asked.
"I'll call my mom. She'll get you."
"Ok, thanks baby."
We went out to the car and drove to the doctors office. On the way there, Brad called Jessica and she said that she will come pick me up after my appointment. I have really missed her since we moved out.
As we arrive at the doctors office, Brad and I say our goodbyes and I give him a good-luck kiss for his interview. I get out of the car and walk through the front doors of the office.
When I went inside, I started to feel some abdominal pain, just like I have been having all morning. I quickly sat down and held my stomach while waiting for my doctor.
A few minutes passed until the doctor came out.
"How are you feeling today, Hannah?" he asked me.
"Well, to be honest, I've been having severe abdominal pain." I replied, standing up off the chair.
"Oh really? For how long?"
"All morning."
"Ok, lets go into the exam room and we will see what's going on." he said motioning me to a door that says 'exam room 1'.
As we entered the room I saw an ultrasound machine and a bed.
"OK, lay down and pull up your shirt above you belly." the doctor said, getting the machine ready. "So what does the pain feel like?"
"It feels like extreme menstrual cramps... It is extremely painful." I replied.
"How far apart, time wise, are the cramps?"
"It's a constant pain."
"Ok, lets have a look."
I got all hooked up to the machine and the doctor took a look at the babies.
After a few minutes of silence, he finally spoke.
"The pain you are feeling is from placental abruption, it's when the placenta detaches from the uterine wall before delivery. It can lead to growth problems, preterm delivery, or stillbirth." he said, sounding upset.
"What do you mean? My babies are going to die?!" I asked loudly.
"Well no but they could, that doesn't mean it's going to happen."
"So what do you do now?"
"Well, we have two options, we could do a caesarean section or we could wait till your water breaks and deliver virginally but if we do that, there could be more complications."
"If we do the caesarean section, will there still be problems?"
"It's possible but there is a lower chance of issues."
"Ok, well then lets do that. When will that be?"
"It will need to be today because it is a large problem."
"You mean, my babies are being born today?!" I asked excitingly.
"Yes, but there might be complications. I am going to go call your husband and mother-in-law. Would you like me to call your parents?" he asked me while standing up and walking towards the door.
"Uh, sure. Please."
"Ok, I'll be back in a few minutes and we will get you transferred to the caesarean section room."
"Ok, thank you."
He left the room and I stayed in the room alone.
About 30 minutes passed until the doctor came back.
"All of your family are coming right away. Your husband said he will be here in 5 minutes."
"OK, thank you."
"Lets get you ready to go to the other room."
"Ok."
We walked out of the room and down the hallway. We got into the elevator and went up. On the third floor we got off and walked down the hall into a room that said 'caesarean room 3'.
When we got into the room, the doctor laid me down on the bed and started getting ready.
While the doctor was getting ready, there was a knock on the door. The doctor opened the door to show that Brad, Jessica and my parents standing there.
They all walk inside and Brad takes my hand in his.
"Can we please have a moment alone?" he asks the doctor.
"Sure but make it quick, we are almost ready to get started." he sad walking out the door with everyone else.
"How are you feeling about this? Do you really think that we are ready for this?" Brad said, turning to me.
"What do you mean? We've always talked about this. Are you getting cold feet our something?" I asked, nervous for the answer.
"No I'm not but I'm scared."
"For what?"
"That I'm going to mess up and be a terrible father and husband."
"Don't worry about a think, we have lots of people that can help us if we need it."
Just as Brad was about to say something, the door opened and the doctor walked in.
"Ready?" he asked, grabbing a needle from the drawer.
I looked up at Brad and saw him nod his head so I looked back at the doctor and said "yes, we are ready.". After I said that, Brad took a tighter grip on my hand. I felt that he was nervous, and so am I.
The doctor broke my water by placing clamps on my amniotic sac and twisted it until it burst. (Sorry if that was gross hah)
We need to wait for the contractions to begin and until then, the doctor went to see other patients.
About 4 hours passed until finally I was able to get the epidural shot.
The doctor came back to do that and after he was done, the wasn't as much pain and I felt really sleepy.
