I could feel it. The knot in my stomach was growing as the night inched closer and closer. Clarke, Finn and Raven were in the drop ship trying to fix the wiring so we could go through with the plan, and I was pleading inside my head for it to work.

Bellamy and I took control of the campers, setting up guarded positions from inside the walls with bags filled with dirt so we had some sort of cover. The whole time I passed bags to the others, the memories came flooding back - Atom, Charlotte and Wells - their faces along with the countless others who had died flashed in my mind and I couldn't help but think that if this plan to fight didn't work soon it would be most, if not all, of us dead.

There hadn't been any sign of the grounders since the scout attack and that had me relived yet extremely worried. Hoping that they gave up and retreated was a long shot knowing what the grounders were capable of.

I passed another bag to one of the boys and thats when we heard it. I perked my head up at the sound of a steady drum, my heart rate increasing and the nervousness fully settling in.

War Drums.

I had read about them on the Ark and how they were used to signify the battle was coming. I stood up straight, trying to mask the fear on my face from the others as I locked eyes with Bellamy. He wore the same expression, trying to mask his own fear in front of the campers.

"Here." Bellamy handed me a walkie talkie. "I'm going to one of the fox holes."

I opened my mouth to protest, "Bell-" but Bellamy cut me off. "Please. Don't follow me. Stay safe. I'll be back soon." Without hesitation, I stood on my toes and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. The kiss was short yet it was full of passion from both of us, as if we were trying to show how much we needed one another to stay safe and to stay alive. I pulled away and stepped back, a saddened smile playing on my lips. "May we meet again." I whispered.

"May we meet again." he smiled weakly. "Keep working." he instructed to everyone else before taking off into one of the tunnels.

As much as it killed me, I stayed put, getting ready for the grounders. Besides, he said he would be back soon. I began to make sure those who had guns were loaded and ready to fire.

The radio that Bellamy had given me suddenly started crackling before a voice rang through, "I see them, their moving, I count one two three, no wait theres more. I don't know man there's too damn many of them." the person on the other end rushed just before a gun shot echoed through the forest. It sounded like Sterling.

"South foxhole, report now!" Bellamy demanded into the radio. Another two gun shots rang through the air before Sterling replied, "Yeah yeah, we're okay. They didn't attack, it's like we're shooting at ghosts."

I can't just stay here while the others are out there. Tucking the radio into my pocket, I check the clip for the amount of bullets, seeing I had 20 or so rounds left, before darting into the tunnel. Shots continuously echoed through the air from different directions as I decided which fox hole to go to. If I went with Bellamy he would send me back immediately.

The radio crackled again making me stop in my tracks. "We need back up!"Jasper shouted. Turning on my heel, I sprinted in the direction of the west foxhole near the minefield. As I got closer, more shots rang through the forest before a huge explosion. "Raven! Your mines work!"

"Jasper, we need you in the drop ship now." Clarke said.

"Negative. We can't give up the west woods." Bellamy protested.
