I bolted. I just opened the front door and ran, I didn't see if I had shut it. I didn't get in my car. I just ran, faster and faster, my feet didn't even feel like they were touching the ground. It was pouring down rain and the street lights were a blur, along with all the buildings and few cars there was out.
The nightmare seemed like it lasted for 10 minutes at the least, but in reality hours had passed. It stilled haunted my memory, " I hate you." That's all I could hear. I couldn't except that, I couldn't let the only person who ever truly loved me say that. She couldn't have meant it.
Tears streamed down my face and I still ran. I didn't need to stop, I knew where I was going. I wanted, no I needed her to know. I was sorry, I was wrong, I was sad, I loved her. I needed her to know I loved her, even if she didn't love me. I still felt I was being watched, but I pushed the thought aside and ran up the porch steps.
I banged on the door with my fist. I even thought I might break the door down. It slowly opened and I saw my moms tired eyes widen. "What the, Y/N-" I hugged her, I was soaking wet and breathing heavily. I just hugged her and she finally wrapped her arms around me, I knew she was confused. I lifted my head and let the words fall out, " Mom I'm so sorry, I love you so much, please don't hate me, I need you, I'm sorry I'm a disappointment, I can be better." I continued rambling on until she looked me dead in the eyes " Honey, I gave birth to you, I raised you. I could never hate you. I didn't force myself to care for you, I chose too." She said it so calmly and I could finally see clearly, tears still falling. "Honey I love you." She hugged me close, my mom was so caring. She shut the door and told me to get dry. I stayed there for a while and we talked. I apologized so much, I could never say it enough.
I was tired and so was she. I decided that I should leave, she knew I didn't have a car but I wasn't about to take hers. I gave her a hug and was on my way. The roads were slick and the rain slowed a little. The air was damp and the streets were quiet.
Turning the corner, I felt someone's eyes on me. I continued walking and shoved my hands in my pockets, picking up my pace. I could hear the footsteps behind me speeding up. I walked faster, so did the footsteps, I stopped so did they. Whatever or whoever it was knew I could tell they were following me. I stopped but the steps got louder, and closer.
I ran, man I was doing a lot of running lately. I could hear and feel the water splashing against my jeans. The footsteps sounded much louder now, as if there were, more. More? I turned a corner and all my fears collapsed on top of me. It was a dark, small, dead end. "No no no no no," I whispered. "Well, well, well," I heard "look who decided to pop in."
I could hear snickering. I slowly turned around and saw 5 men coming closer. The auroras around them were dark and they grew larger. I could practically hear there thoughts. I backed up and tripped over trash, fuck I was clumsy. This was not the time to be stupid.
"What's wrong, can't walk?" They laughed and from what little light I had, I recognized one of the guys. He had bullied me in highschool. But I didn't notice anyone else. They got closer and I stood "Back the fuck up," I yelled. "We just wanna have some fun," one said. There words slurred a little, damnit were they drunk? Probably, who knows. They started to surround me, I picked up a glass bottle and smashed the end off, any weapon is better than no weapon at all. Some backed up a little, but not enough for comfort. "Is the little girl going to cut us?" One of them laughed. "Bitch please," I said annoyed "I'm 25."
One came at me and I cut part of his shirt. Another attempted to tackle me but somehow I jumped out of the way in time.
Finally one got me from behind and pulled me down, I struggled in his grip but I couldn't barley even move. The smell of alcohol filled the air. The one I dodged got up and the other 3 surrounded me as well. One got close enough and I smashed the remaining part of the bottle over his head. They all came at me and I kicked one in the nuts. Talk about guy problems. The man who had me in his grip started to lift my shirt and I elbowed him. They all pinned me down and tore at my clothes. I kicked and punched but they didn't budge. A tear ran down my cheek and I whispered "help."
My mind finally came up with a good idea. I didn't hesitate, "Help!" I yelled "Please help me!" I hollered. I fought back more and continued to scream.
They had my pants down and my shirt up, I screamed and cried. I looked behind them and saw a shadow, or a figure. A man stood there, all I could see was the outline of him, and glowing red eyes. The second our eyes met he was there, he pulled the men off of me. He slammed them into the brick wall, I to the dumpster wherever he could.
I pulled up my pants and put on my jacket, backed against the wall, and watched. I must of fallen onto broken glass, my arms were bleeding. I could hear muffled cries of pain, and a loud bang.
My attention returned to the fight, but there was none. The men's bodies were slumped upon each other. The smell of blood filled the air, and the dark figure stood before me. I looked into the red eyes. The shades seemed to change repeatedly. I stood slowly, never letting my eyes slip from his. "T-thank yo-" I stopped. He seemed to have whispered something. "Don't," he said in a deep voice. "But you just-" I was cut off. He came closer and whispered in my ear so quietly I almost missed it, but it still sent chills down my spine. "Y/n, go home."
Everything froze, and it was dark.
