FALL, the start of it all a new school year. It was warm in New York the heat still wasn't over but the temperatures hadn't significantly dropped. I rose from my ivory colored sheets and made it to my bathroom. I rinsed my face and brushed my hair before I headed back to my room. I need to make a good impression, even though I've been with the same people in this school for almost two years now. The only new things about this year were the teachers.
I made my way to the breakfast table where I found my mom, dad and younger brother Auggie sitting eating eggs. I sat at my place and began eating. "Excited for the new year?" My dad inquired as he sipped his coffee.
"As long as you're not my teacher."
"I don't think that happens four times." My dad was my teacher in seventh, eighth and ninth grade but he guaranteed me that wouldn't happen again. Hopefully he was right. I finished my eggs and headed back to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I finally collected all my brand new school supplies and headed back to the kitchen and heard a knock at the door, Zay. My best friend of all time, he was my  Shawn to my Cory. I loved him so much. But strictly platonically. He had Maya, my other best friend but we were not as close since we both liked Zach Gardener in the 8th grade and she reluctantly won but that only lasted a couple of weeks.
I answered the door to see the tall boy that was Zay Babineaux. I picked up my bag and walked out with Zay. "How was your summer?" He asked.
"It was good, how was yours?"
"Good since you were there 90% of the time."
I giggled, "That's very true. I'm glad I'm not a complete bore."
"You're not completely, but you're close." He replied, sarcastically. I nudged him in the chest with my elbow.
We walked and talked for another ten minutes before we made it to Abigail Adams High School. We didn't have any morning classes together so we went our separate ways. I went to my first period, psychology and I was told by the teacher there was a seating chart and I sat in the third row. The tables were lab tables, two per table. It was all paired up boy girl according to Mr. Wether, the teacher, but he wouldn't tell us who because it was a "surprise". Slowly people filtered in from the crowded halls and I spotted a familiar face,
Lucas Friar.
He was the one guy every boy was friends with and the one guy all the girls didn't trust. I never knew why but I went along with it, they were probably right. I never wanted to be friends with him and he felt the same way. And lucky me, he was assigned to sit right next to me. He said hi but nothing more. Then the bell rang, "Welcome to AP Psychology, I'm Mr. Wether and I will be teaching this course. I hope you all like your seat because that's who you'll be working with for the whole semester," The whole class groaned in disappointment. "we will be doing an experiment about teenage relations." Sounds interesting, I guess.
He handed out prompts for the project. Half of the class were assigned 35 question from a study and the other half weren't. I was in the half who were assigned questions. And those who were had the questions divided into three parts and were told to meet once a week, over the next three weeks and ask the section of questions each meeting.
This would be interesting, I turned to ask Lucas about his contact information and he was staring off into the distance, bored out of his mind. "Hey, I was wondering when you'd like to meet."
"Anytime is okay." He replied with a stern yet emotionless tone.
"Okay how about today at my house? I'll give you the address."
"Okay."
"Alrighty, sounds good. I don't know if you remember but I'm Riley Matthews."
"I remember Riley, I'm Lucas Friar in case you forgot." He said bluntly, still facing away from me.
This is going to be a long semester.
