It was two weeks after Enoch had been avoiding Olive all the time. Whenever Olive tried to catch a conversation, or give a help with his experiments, he refused in all the way reasonable and unreasonable. The other peculiars in the house paid much care to this daily soap opera like an additional entertainment through these boring years. After Olive had come, Enoch really changed a lot and all the children paid attention to him more often to see the interaction between him and Olive.

"Eno-"

"I do not wish any talks."

It was the forth times Olive had been cut off by Enoch cruelly by his rejection. They were stopped in the corridor while the others were busying in the Christmas decorations started from yesterday as it was Christmas  today. Though they were living on the same day, they had customed their own calendar to celebrate few important days in the year. Now it was Christmas' turn.

Enoch's back was facing Olive coldly and he didn't even give a glance on her for goodness sake.

"I just-"

"Shut it Olive, we aren't friends we can be."

The fifth time he shut her and he finally turned to see her with his coal dark eyes. At least he lastly faced her, Olive thought hopefully. She smiled at him in relief as he shortened the distance between them. Threateningly, he forced her to the walls step by step.

"Listen, you're no good for me."

Enoch calmly stared at the girl before him. It seems that there was a layer on his eyes slurring everything about him, she could see nothing from him through his window.

"Don't wanna be friend of yours, understand?"

Enoch bowed to lean closer to her, causing heavy breaths of Olive. He could feel her nervousness and he awkwardly pulled the distance. When he was about to return to his room, he was stopped by her call.

"Hey,"

Olive paused, she never had a  strong tone for such a kind and soft person like her, except now.

"Why do you have Victor as your friend, but not me?"

She stubbornly asked him, freezing him at the moment. He could hear the shakiness in her voice and his heart pound hard. Not getting an answer, she continued herself.

"For the sixth time I'm glad you didn't cut me off."

It was like she could speak the fire out of her lips, her last sentence left to him was full of anger asleep on her tongue as if it was about to sprawl out. The pure eyes of hers he remembered summoned the guiltiness inside him. Even he didn't see her face, he could feel how broken hearted she was. It was like a harmless rabbit will eventually attack its enemy when it was threatened to last line.

The absence of her body allows the sunlight to illuminate his alone figure in the corridor. If it was his own illusion, he could only feel the spreading coldness on every inch of his skin under the shininess. His heart had been aching when she sounded even more mean and sarcastic than he did. But it shouldn't be the way she lives.

The sunset was only about an hour away and the night started to merge onto the sky. Enoch and Olive had never seen each other until there was a gathering at the living room announced by Miss P. Every children were asked to write their wishes on cards which will be placed in a cardboard box lately. Before that, they have already reset the time since they will be having happy hours at night.
