Mike's POV:
We were running for our lives...
There's no other way to put it. Something was behind us, and we knew that if we didn't make it back into the town something awful was going to happen.
And it did.
One second my torch was out of control - flickering faster than my eyes could register, and the next it was gone.
Everything was gone.
I was in the woods, but I was alone. The sickening cold pierced through me, threatening to tear me apart. My footsteps echoed through the trees, sending shivers down my spine.
"Will?"
Nothing.
The empty sky had cast a shadow over the world; a shadow that made my stomach churn and my heart beat faster. I might not have been here before, but I know where I am. I let out a tiny whimper, unable to control the growing sense of panic welling up inside of me.
I'm in the upside down.
In the distance, I heard a deep, booming roar, coming closer and closer every second. Instinct told me to run, but I was frozen. Tears were blurring my vision, as I realised the cold reality of what was about to happen to me.
All I could do was listen to the heavy thud, and the ear splitting screech that erupted into the silent night as I set my eyes on the monster. My eyes were squeezed as tightly shut as I could possibly make them, as I whimpered and trembled at the mercy of the one thing I couldn't protect her from. The demogorgon.
"I'll find you, El" I whispered as the monster paced towards me....
