Sophomore year had just started and Ethan had just gotten the news that Delilah and Hunter had just gotten back together. At this point Ethan realized that he had lost is last chance to ask Delilah out. Nobody realized how much he was hurting. He was hurting so much that he decided that he would completely change himself so he wouldn't have the same feelings. It didn't matter what he did, he still had feelings for Delilah. Ethan told himself that the only option left was to shut down all his feelings.
Only one person had realized the change in Ethan and they knew the reason why he decided to change. This person was Gio, a classmate who had been playing video games with Ethan during freshman year. Gio went up to Ethan and said, "I know that you are in love with Delilah. It has caused you to change and now you seem like a different person than you were in the beginning of high school." Ethan and Gio grew closer and began to hung out a lot.
