"We are all a little broken, but last time I checked, broken crayons still color the same."
I looked up to him and studied his face for a few minutes. My brother was the type of guy a typical girl would call "hot". With his tan skin and his welcoming, warm smile, he radiated happiness and acceptance. He was the kind of guy that you thought you could tell anything. He would keep you safe from any danger that would come your way. His hair was always neat and short, his eyes round and almost doll-like, his face, unlike Doctor Ashley's, was more rounded and he looked somehow more approachable. My brother looked like all these things. And he could be, don't get me wrong, but he could also be a cold hearted villain. He always had good intentions for what he said or did. You just couldn't really ever see.
One thing he would do, is that he would constantly push for me to get put on some form of medication. Also, despite what I said earlier, he's the real reason I have to see Dr. Ashley. He thinks that seeing a psychotherapist will help me get over my illness. And maybe it would help if the one I have wasn't the Devil himself. He acted like my father, since he was the only man in the house. I love him, he's my brother, but he can be a real good pain in my ass. Dr. Ashley went to school with Jaden and they were the best of friends.
"Hey kiddo." He smiled so big and placed his hand on my leg reassuringly. His eyes dug into mine and I saw right through that smile. Vindictive bastard. He must still be mad about when I was 10. Basically, to make a long, long, painful story short, I had tried to kill myself by taking some pills that made me get really loopy. I didn't take nearly enough to OD. I was about 2 away. Jayden turned away so he could make sure that all nurses were out of eyesight. When he turned back to me, his true colors shined through like I was waiting for. His eyes narrowed and his neck and fists clenched. He sneered and finally spoke, "You little bitch. You couldn't just let our mother have some peace? YOU had to make everything about you. You are the reason Dad left. If you were never born, like you never should have been, I would still know where Dad was." Tears started to well up in my eyes and he laughed. "You will never amount to anything, you waste of a life. You are such a dissapoin..." He was cut off as a nurse walked in.
"Excuse me sir! I will not have you speaking that way to my patients. Security!" She yelled down the hall and quickly 3 men were in my room. I took this as an opportunity to start crying. The nurse told them what she heard and they grabbed him by the arms and started to drag him out of the room. She walked over to me and sat where he had been only moments before. She checked my vitals, they had gone up considerably since the confrontation. She shook her head and finally spoke after the silence of me sobbing, "He say stuff like that to you often?" I sniffled a few times and suddenly Gertrude speaks.
"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?" Her face immediately went from understanding and kindness to hurt and disgust. I shrunk back down into the bed and she looks at my chart. As soon as she reads she says, "Oh, so you must be Gertrude. Dr. Ashley says you're the mean one." Gertrude starts screaming at her and the basic parts of the conversation is that someone needed to get this bitch out of her face before she didn't have a face anymore. She got up out of the bed and started toward the nurse swinging her arms and flailing around. The nurse screamed and ran out of the room. Guards quickly came and grabbed Gertrude, then carried her as she kicked and screamed to her bed.
All of a sudden Penelope started talking and the guards threw her on the bed. She broke into tears. She tried to tell them her name and that there was some kind of mistake. She was trying to fight back but she was being held in a way that was making it hard to breathe. She went still and people rushed the room. There was a moment where the world went blank and Penelope couldn't remember anything happening. The next thing she remembers is shooting up and then she blacked out again.
I shot up and felt my mind shift back into a state of normality. I felt something shoot up my arm and look over to see a nurse putting some kind of medicine that is meant to "help me". I felt the cold fall over my arm and I looked toward the nurse and he smiled at me. Then some doctor walked in and sat down on my other side. I turned my head and saw Dr. Ashley and my brother grinning ominously down at me. "Mother fucker...."
