To My Rescue

Jase was pulling me down the stairs and once we got halfway he pushed me down. I tumbled off the stairs and landed on my stomach. I screamed in pain. I think I just broke my leg. It took me a second to regain my breath. The fall must have knocked the breath out of me. I heard Jase walk down the remainder of the stairs painfully slow.

 Clunk. Clunk

My breath finally came back to me as I started to crawl towards the wall on my hands and knees. I propped my back up and began to search the walls for something to help me stand up. 

Click.

A single light bulb in the middle of these four cinder block walls lit up the room. The basement was an average size. To the right there were blue bins labeled WINTER CLOTHES lining the wall. On the back wall, where I was, there was a giant Christmas tree box along with smaller boxes around it which I assume had ornaments in it. I grabbed the one closest to me and popped it open. I grabbed two ornaments, one in each hand and turned to Jase. "Touch me and all these years of pitching will come into use." I screamed at him thinking of my many years playing softball. He took a step toward me and I launched the ornament in my right hand in it exploded on his chest sending glass all over the room. He then jumped onto me trying to pry the other ornament out of my hand but i slammed it on his head like you would an egg. He cried out in agony. My hand started bleeding and pieces of the thin sparkly glass stuck out of it. I heard footsteps travel the ceiling and I pray that Parker know's I'm here.

Suddenly I heard the doorknob on the basement door start to make noise. "HELP! HELP ME!" I screamed out and Jase just smothered my mouth by putting his lips onto mine. He then sat on top of me and kept kissing me. I started crying and crying. Then Jase cried out "Shut up!" Then banged my head against the floor causing me to cry even more.

"Alice! Alice are you down there? Are you okay? Jase if you even think about touching her I will kill you!" I heard someone say from behind the door. I tried to call out but Jase just bit down on my lip. The more I tried to scream the harder he would bite. I started to taste iron and knew my lip was bleeding. Jase grabbed my hair and started to pull on it. I started to scream even with his lips pressed against mine.

I looped my hands around his back and dislodged the biggest piece of glass that was in my hand. The pain was excruciating but I positioned the glass so that the sharpest point was facing down and used all that i had in me to stab him in the back. He jumped back and slapped me straight across the face. His grey eyes bore into my green ones and that's when the door flew off the hinges and jumped down the stairs and slammed on the ground with a loud thud. I saw Parker standing at the top where the door once stood. My blackmailer, my savior.

I saw his eyes shift from side to side as he took in the scene before him. His eyes landed on Jase. Parker ran down the steps and he landed on Jase. He put Jase on his back and sat on his stomach as he started to throw the crucial punches onto his face. I continued to cry as I watched. I felt so stupid and helpless once again. Naive is another good word to describe how I feel. When Parker felt it was enough he looked at me, "Are you okay?"

"No.. No I'm not I just want to leave. Please, help me." I pleaded. Parker stood up and gave a now sleeping Jase a good, well deserved kick to the stomach then reached down to help me up but I shook my head, "I can't stand, my leg hurts to much."

"Alright then, stay still." Parker said as he bent down and scooped me into his arms. We began to make our way up the steps and I just stared up at Parker. I rested my head against his chest. Once we made our way to the door leading outside he looked down at me and we just looked at each other. "Thank you. Thank you so much for coming to my rescue." I said softly. Parker just glanced at me and smiled. A genuine smile. Then he kissed my forehead and kept walking.
