My mom let me stay home from school the next day, she was afraid I may pass out or something, so she told me to stay home. The guy didn't come by again throught the day. For some reason I felt a little disappointed.
Today I got up a little earlier then usual. I feel oddly awake and energized.
I walked into the bathroom and did my morning routine, but instead of leggings and a shirt, I wore black leggings, a white cardigan, and a black tank that was a little high.
I skipped down stairs and headed for the toast.
"Well someone looks happy." She said with a little suspison in voice.
I shrugged. "I don't know, I just feel really good today."
"Well that bracelet looks cute with that. You hardly ever wear your jewelry" Her hand gestered to my wrist that held the mysterious gold chain
I stopped and stared at my bracelet.
"Yeah... thanks."
I shrugged off my curiosity for the bracelet and made me a batch of toast.
"My flight leaves today at 4, so your going to have to be home alone for a few days." My mom explained for the millionth time. She's a stewardess at Delta Airlines, so she leaves for a few days at a time, then comes back for a little bit.
"I know ma, I'm good."
"Well call me if you need anything or if your feeling sick."
"I will. I got to go, I'll see you Sunday." I said while skipping to the door.
"Monday!" She corrected.
Today was surprisingly really hot. I put my hair into a low ponytail and walked faster then usual to school so I can see my friends.
When I got there, my best friend Hannah immediately found me and ran to me.
"I MISSED YOU SO MUCH." She screamed frantically.
"I was gone for a day." I shook my head and hugged her back.
"Technically it was two since you only went to first period." She pulled away with and raised her brow.
I rolled my eyes and slug my arm around her shoulder.
"So, what did I miss?"
"Well since the fire happened around second, we didn't do shit for the rest of the day. All the teachers were too worried on watching the news and seeing if you guys were alright." I nodded and raised a brow.
Damn, they made a pretty big deal about all that.
"Damn." I replied a little astonished.
"But no one got hurt, right?" She asked curiously.
I shrugged.
"I heard Marie got a burn on her hand, but nothing too bad."
She nodded.
Hannah walked me to classed. I got hugs from some people I talk to. Hugs are a little awkward to me , I never know where to hug someone and when to do it.
Since my first period was math, I dozed off a little. I did some of my math homework I missed since we were going over a study guide today.
The day flew through. Before I knew it, I was walking to Hannah's class after 4th to wait for her for lunch.
All my teachers asked me how I was. My art teacher pulled me out so she could talk to me personally. Ms. Merda was an amazing teacher, her class was one of the few I actually enjoy.
Hannah smiled when she saw me. Everytime I wait for her, she smiles at me like she hasn't seen me in so long. I wonder why she does it, then again it is a lot like her.
She grabbed my arm and bolted to the lunchroom.
"Nice cardigan by the way." She commented while we flew passed people.
"Why thank you, it's Prada."
"Oh shut up!" She shot at me whilst rolling her eyes.
I smiled, but something caught my eye. I saw something shining outside of the window. The sudden shine took me back and I immediately stopped walking and closed my eyes.
I felt dizzy, like I was spinning. I could still see the white light even though my eyes were closed.
"You ok?" Hannah asked alarmed.
I put my head down and held it trying to get rid of the light.
"Ughh."I groaned.
"What's wrong?!" She asked alarmed.
"I can't see."
I opened my eyes to look at the ground, but it was blurry and spinning.
Hannah grabbed my wrist and pulled them away to look at my face.
"Are you ok, are you gonna faint?" She pushed.
I shook my head. The light slowly went away and the spinning began to slow down.
I felt a hand touch my lower back.
"Are you ok? Do you want me to walk you to the nurse?!"
I recognized the voice. It wasn't Hannah, it was Sara. She's another friend of mine, we didn't talk much really, but she's sweet and friends with everyone.
I shook my head again.
"No no, it's ok, I'm good." I let go of my head again looked up. I avoided looking out the window so I wouldn't see the light.
"You sure? Your probably still sick from the smoke." Hannah sounded alarmed and not convinced. She had a very nurturing personality, she was always helping the nurse with sick students and treatment.
The dizzyness suddenly faded away. I looked around me and saw people standing in the middle of the hall and and staring at me in shock. I think they all thought I was about to faint.
My face heated up and I put my head down and tugged Hannah's long sleeve.
"Come on, let's eat."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, positive. I'm probably just hungry." I lied. Sara went her separate way, leaving me and Hannah walking towards the now long lunch line.
"Damn." I hissed looking at the line.
"I'm sorry." I aplogized to her. She loves coming early to lunch, but by the looks of it, we're probably gonna be in the line for awhile.
She merely shrugged.
"Don't worry, it's cool." She seemed oddly unbothered by it. She usually throws a fit whenever we're late. I think she didn't do it because I wasn't feeling well.
After we got our trays, we sat down at our usually table, which was one of the only ones not behind a window. I tried to focas on Hannah and our group rather then looking out the windows, but I felt like there was something outside that I had to look at.
Hannah was talking to one of our friends, Angela, about one of our science projects in a class we all three had that I was absent in. It involves something with the periodic table. I keep trying to pay attention to their conversation, but every five seconds I look past Angela to see through the window. I can literally feel someone watching me, was it him? Was he here? If so, why?
