Today was the day my 5th period class go on a tour in down town Hotsprings. I don't see why we have to have a tour of the place when we live there, but the teacher says the place is historical and that we should know the history behind our home town.

I didn't really have close friends in the class, so I kinda don't want to go, but it beats staying at school all day.

I quickly got up from my bed and walked towards my bathroom. I brushed my teeth, hair, washed by face, and put on my mascara before walking out and putting on some clothes. I decided on black leggings and a blue shirt since we weren't really going anywhere special.
I went to the mirror to see if I approved myself.

My jet black hair had frizzy curls that went to the middle of my back. My eyes looked a little browner then usual and my skin actually looked clear for a change.

I grabbed my headphones and phone and started walking to school. I had to be there a little early so we'd be back at school by 12:30.

The sky was barley blue and there were little droplets of water everywhere. It was suprisingly cold outside, but I didn't bring a jacket cause I knew by 9 it'd be hot as hell.

The walk to the school wasn't that bad, it took about 10 minutes to get there and by then mostly everyone was here.
I walked towards Alex, a friend of mine, and decided to stick around her. She had long messy blonde hair and always wore shirts related to her favorite bands. Her and James, her best friend, we're arguing about why he wouldn't survive an apocalypse.

"Face it James, your a short man who can even stand the sight of blood. You wouldn't even last 10 minutes near zombies." Alex said.
James shook his head and sighed. Alex turned to me and smiled.

"Hey Serena."

I smiled and was about to say something when our teacher shouted at us to get on the bus. Alex and James sat together while I sat behind them. I didn't really mind sitting alone, it was peaceful to me.

It was about a 10 minute drive to the Arlington hotel, probably the nicest hotel in Hot Springs. We were going to tour it first.
When we parked, we all filed out and walked up the stairs towards the Arlington. It was a huge hotel, and very pretty.
The teacher decided to split up class into two so we could save some time. Alex and James were in one group whole I was on the other.
I swore under my breath. Alex looked and me and gave me the puppy dog eyes before walking sadly to the other group. We made sad faces for a good 3 minutes before going our separate ways.

Everyone started taking pictures while we were walking. I just stayed it the back of the group and admired everything.

"Wanna ditch with us?"

I turned and saw Marie, a girl I knew, talking to me. I raised my eyebrow.

"Really? She'd notice were gone." I said referring to the teacher. Marie shrugged and continued to talk about it to her friends. Marie was nice, but did some stupid shit and always got caught.

They debated it for a few minutes, before sneaking down one of the hallways and disappearing. I chucked and shook my head, they were gonna get caught.

We kept walking down the halls of the Arlington while the teacher lectured us. I tried to block her out while I looked around the lightly yellow lit halls. I don't see why we have to go walking on every single floor. To me you could just-

"Serena?" I looked towards the voice and saw the teacher and along with everyone else staring at me.

"Could you get Marie and them from the bathroom please."

Ugh.

I faked a smile and nodded. I turned left and walked down the hallways and followed the signs to the bathroom.

Damn, it's like a maze it here. Why are the bathrooms so damn far? I really don't see the point in-

RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I jumped up at the piercing sound of the alarm going off. I looked around frantically to try and see what was happening.

The fire alarm, it's the fire alarm.

Was this a drill? A joke? I shook my head and started running down the hall for an exited. I ran towards the fire escape stairs and tried to open the door, but it was stuck.

Shit. Who the hell locks the fire escape?!

I'm screwed.

I turned around and ran to the other end of the hall. I couldn't
remember where I came in, where were the stairs??

The alarm kept keeping me from my thoughts, I can't think straight.

I took a left and saw the stairs. I ran towards them and was about to go down when I saw flames blocking my path.

I screamed when the intense heat hit my face. I stumbled back and fell.

What now?

I felt my eyes get a little blurry and I sniffle.

I had to get out, there couldn't be only one way out of here.
I immediately got up and took a right. I ran down the hall when I noticed a door that said Roof. Without hesitating, I open the door and ran up the stairs. There were about 4 flights before I got to a door. I opened it and was greeted by the awful smell of smoke.

I coughed and began walking towards the edge of the building. I looked down and almost hurled. I was on the 11th floor and was facing the little woods that were behind the hotel. I turned to walk back to the door, but saw heavy smoke and flames peeking from inside.
I turned towards the woods and started crying.

Was there really no way out? I don't want to die, I don't want to burn to death.

I could still hear the alarm faintly, but the sound of my heart beat was overpowering it.

I didn't want to burn to death, it's one of my worst fears, but one that wasn't really was heights.

I thought for a moment. Would it be considered suicide if I jumped off? I mean I'm already going to die, and it wasn't like I wanted to. I'd rather jump of then be burned to death, at least then it'd be painless.

I peered down. Theheight is scary. I looked back over and saw the fire about 10 feet from me.
I shook my head and sobbed.
