The fog billowed on all sides of the boat.
"Hey Jake, there's Abe's island!" I remark, pointing to the silent island.
Jake looked at the island, not nauseous for once.
"Cool!" he said excitedly.
I smiled.
"Everything good over there?" Frank asked us.
"Great Mr. Frank!" I say enthusiastically.
"Cool." he replied before looking at the sky, in search of more birds.
"I'm still so surprised that your dad let me come with you." I whisper to Jake.
"Mmmmm..." He replied.
"Why did he?" I ask.
"I dunno." he rolled his eyes.
The ship docked, the wood screeching against the metal of the boat.
Jake eagerly clambered off the ship before holding an arm out to me like a gentleman.
"Why thank you Jake!" I say in a mock-posh voice.
Jake shyly smiles at me as we race off to something called the priest hole.

"So do you know where the refugee home for kids is?" I ask Jake.
"I dunno." he replied.
'Weeeweeeellllllll, look who it is! Yank boy and his girl," drawls Dylan.
"Go away Dylan," I glare at him.
Dylan clapsed his hand over his heart with a hurt expression.
"I'm hurt! I know where that house of yours is!"
"Well show us then!" Jake interrupts.
"Why should I? Your girl's so rude!"
"I'm nobody's girl so get outta here before I fry your ugly face into a pancake!" I shout, clenching my hands into fists.
"That was handled well," Jake remarks while Dylan stalks away.
"We can find it ourself." I huff.
"What about around the bog and and through the woods?" A new voice springs up.
"Worm." I growl.
"Hey, Jake, Vic." he smirks.
"Give off." I mumble, annoyed.
"Fine!" he says, and runs away to Dylan.
"Well.....maybe that's worth a try?" I turn to Jake.
"Dad might get mad," he says uncertainly.
"Well, fine, but I'm going anyways." I decide and walk towards the bog.
Jake narrowed his eyes, and ran up to me.
"Fine I'm coming. Vic, if anything bad happens it's you!" he muttered, jamming his hands into his pockets.
"Okay then." I smile, secretly relieved to have him along.
~~
"That's the house Jake!" I yell, pointing a a decrepit dump.
Jake sighs.
"It's nothing-"
"Like the paradise Abe said it was." I finished.
"We should just look, you know. Abe's last wishes." he says softly.
"It's alright," I reply, patting him on the back.
Jake smiles sadly at me.
"Thanks Vic." he sighs.
"It's alright," I smile back and we walk into the house together.
