*Two chapters in one day you guys are spoiled*
The days passed slowly. We were all busy, trying to find a way to save Jack. Kristoff went to ask the trolls if they knew anything. They had no idea how to thaw an immortal heart. An immortal heart was different than a regular persons heart, each one was different. All immortal hearts are thawed in a different way. They told us true love wouldn't do it, but they gave us other ideas. We tried to to make him laugh too much. That didn't work. We put him in a hot tub. The snow still fell. We tried numerous other remedies that all failed. We had been trying for weeks, and nothing had helped.
We were laying in the den, after dinner. Everyone was in the kitchen except Jack and I.
"Thank you for trying Elsa." Jack said to me, as we were making snowflakes in the air.
"Don't give up just now silly."
"I'm not. It's just you guys have tried everything, and nothing's working. I only have until the winter solstice. Just 3 weeks. I appreciate it, but I don't think I can be saved." He sighed and kissed my forehead. "Elsa, if this doesn't end I'm where I stay alive, I just want you to know...." He paused.
"To know what?" I asked. My pulse quickened.
"That I uh, really want to see that ice castle of yours." He said. I sighed, my hopes went down. Why? Had I wanted him to say something else?
"Sure, we can go tomorrow." I said. I stopped making snowflakes and turned away from him.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I just, just don't want you to go." I whispered.
"Hey, I will stay as long as possible. I won't leave you until you are ready." He wrapped his arms around my waist. He was no longer warm, the cold was already setting in.
"I won't ever be ready." I cried, tears streaming down my face.
"Me neither." He sighed, wiping the tears away.
"Let's go." I said.
"Go where?"
"Let's go see my ice castle right now, I know it didn't melt all the way. It's still there." I got up.
It took us a couple of hours to find exactly where it was. When we got to the base of the north mountain, I was too tired to climb.
"Do you trust me?" Jack asked.
"Yes of course." I said.
"Ok, hold on to me." He grabbed my waist. Before I could say anything, we were flying. we were really flying. He laughed at my face. We reached the top.
"You never told me you could fly." I said.
"You never asked." He smiled. He looked toward the castle, it was somewhat damaged but still intact. I hadn't been here since Hans had locked me up in the dungeon. "It's beautiful." He walked towards it. "And you built it?" He asked. I nodded. He walked up the stairs, taking it all in.
We spent a couple hours at the castle exploring all the rooms. I forgot how much I had loved my castle. But it wasn't home.
3 weeks passed. We still had not found a remedy to his frozen heart. I woke up on the day of the solstice, alone. That wasn't right. Jack was almost always waiting in my room for me to wake up. Did he go already? I jumped up, not bothering to change. I ran out of my room, right into Anna. "Elsa! Elsa what's wrong?" She asked.
"I have to help him!" I yelled back. I ran down the stairs, at least three at a time. "Jack? Jack! Where are you?" I heard people behind me, but I kept running. I opened the door, and ran through the gates into the town square. The snow had stopped. No no no Jack! I looked at the hill, just like the dream. There he was, standing there. He was yelling at the moon, who was almost completely faded away in the morning sky.
The wind was swirling around him, coming in for the kill. I ran. I ran as fast as I could. "Jack!" I yelled. He couldn't hear me. "Jack please no!" I got to the base of the hill and started climbing toward the top. I had just gotten to the top, when the wind struck its blow. It knocked Jack over, he didn't move.
Just like the dream, I was too late.
I laid him in my lap, holding his head. "Jack no. Jack I was supposed to save you. I was supposed to be the one to help you. I'm sorry." I cried. He was gone. He was totally gone.
I heard Anna and Kristoff come up behind me.
"Oh Elsa I'm so sorry." Anna said. She sniffed.
"Elsa, you know there's one thing we haven't tried. True love." Kristoff said.
"But who is his true love? They said true love wouldn't work." I said.
"For goodness sake Elsa you! You both have the same powers! It's pretty obvious. And he was human first, maybe his heart is different than most spirits." He told me. "Come on we see how you guys act around each other."
Me? His true love? I stroked Jack's hair. But what if I was too late? What if I wasn't it. I grabbed his face and kissed him. His lips were cold and lifeless. I pulled back. His eyes didn't even flutter. I was too late. Tears started falling down my face. I heard Anna sob behind me. "But she deserved that, she deserved true love." I closed my eyes, and cried harder. Why, why him? Why did he have to die. I felt a hand wipe my tears. I opened my eyes.
I gasped. Jack was looking up at me smiling. " Hey Elsa, I know what kind of love can thaw a frozen heart. One that's meant to be." He kissed me again.
"Jack!" I breathed. "You didn't leave!"
"I told you that you knew how to save me."
