-Astral Starfyre
Today is the day I anticipated. The day where I'll be going to Canterlot High School as part of the student exchange program and finally get the chance to meet my online and old friend there, Twilight Sparkle. I packed my bag in excitement, trying not to forget the necessities: books, writing utensils, documents and whatever a normal student needs. My luggage was filled with clothes and others that should be able to last a week before needing to washing. Since we are staying there for 4 months, I should probably pack more.
The car in the driveway was revved and ready to go. I hopped into the shotgun after I loaded my luggage into the trunk and the next second we drove off.
Along the way, my father handed me a book. It had an unrecognizable symbol engraved on the hard cover and looked vintage. The edge of the book was uneven and it's corners were plated with a rustic colored metal. The hard cover had a wooden texture and it even smelled like it. It seemed like a special edition notebook from a World of Warcraft or League of Legends convention.
"Here, take this book" said my father "Its a book I used when I started studying in a new school. It might come in handy"
"Okay, why didn't you give me when I was enrolled into my current secondary school?"
"It wasn't your time yet" he paused "But now, I believe it is"
Confusion swept over me "What do you mean?"
His reply was as simple as his smirk "You'll see"
Obviously, I didn't know what he meant. Not my time yet... what does he mean not my time yet? Was I not old or mature enough? What's so special about this book that he has to give it to me now and why? He didn't want to tell me anything about that book either. Was he hiding something from me?
Nevertheless, I discarded those thoughts and happily received it. Thanking him, I shoved it into my bag. The book felt as if it was radiating heat, but I assumed the book was under the sun in his car. It wasn't a thick book and it slid into my bag smoothly. The drive to the airport was long and the flight will be even longer. There, I met my brother from another mother, Crystal. "Hey you're finally here" said Crystal upon my arrival. I waved goodbye to my dad as I joined the group. We were all wearing the same attire: dark azure blue colored T-shirt with our school logo on the right breast and olive green long pants. "Yup, packed everything?" I responded.
"Of course. I can't wait to meet that friend, Twilight of yours"
I nodded happily as we enter the departure hall and then the plane. It will be a long flight, and when I mean long I mean very long. We'll probably have to hop onto another plane after this. After all, we will be crossing from the East to the West. Everyone knows how long it will take. However, I didn't mind. Meeting new friends, learning something new, who wouldn't want that?
