The Little Mermaid

In the depths of the sea, there lies the secret world of the mermaids. They live happily and freely in their underwater kingdom. Happily ruled by their great queen, Gumi. She had 3 beautiful daughters, the princesses of the kingdom, Meiko, Rin and Luka.

Among the three, Luka was the youngest but has the most beautiful and enchanting voice. 

When the three princesses were still young, their mother told them, "When you turn 15, you may swim up to the surface."

Curious on what lies above, they were excited. Excited to see and believe. But the most intrigued and curious mermaid was the youngest, Luka. She wanted to be closer to the blue starry sky, that was vivid under the sea. So, she waited.

One time, Luka asked her mother about the humans, if they can breathe underwater, or if they can live long as they can do.

"Humans have a shorter lifespan than us. Although, they have a soul that could live forever in a so called heaven.", explained her mother.

"What about us? Do we have a soul?", asked Luka

"We don't, dear. When our lives come to an end, we turn into sea foam"

Luka, now dreams for a soul. Turning into sea foam wasn't such a nice idea for her. She wanted to be human. To be able to live forever with a soul.

As the mermaids aged, their hair grew long and was never cut. The princesses hair grew beautifully. Their tails grew maginificent scales. These are signs of royalty

When Meiko turned 15, she gladly swam up into the surface and as she returned, Rin and Luka awaited her stories. She came back and happily told how the sun gave her warmth and the waves bringing her to the shore and the big castle.

Both were intrigued on what this castle was. Meiko said, "It's bigger than ours! It's close to the shore and a seagul told me there's a prince in there!".

When Rin turned 15, she swam to the surface as well. When she came back, Luka was excited to see her. She told stories about ships that sailed across the ocean.

And, atlast, Luka turned 15. Very excited, she swam up elegantly to see what awaits her. As she surface, she saw a ship. A huge one. She heard music that soothed her ears. She was curious on what are humans doing. How could they produce such music? So, she took a closer look. She knew it was dangerous, but she carried on.

As she peeped on the side, there she saw, the prince. Happily laughing. At that instant, she felt something. Something she's never felt before.

"Is this what they call... love?", she said to herself. She was captivated by the prince's smile and long yellow hair. 

When it grew dark, she swam back to the kingdom. Her sisters, eagerly waiting for her, were waiting for  her story.

"It was incredible! I've never seen such a beautiful sky!", she said.

"Haha, Luka, you've never seen the sky before", Meiko said

"And..."

"And what?", Rin said

"I saw someone", Luka said, smiling.

"Someone? Who!? Who!?", Rin and Meiko said.

"The prince"

"You did!? What did he look like?", Rin asked

"Oh, he looked handsome! And he didn't have a tail."

"He had legs, Luka". Meiko interupted

"Oh, so that's what their called?"

"Luka, come join us, we're going to collect corals in coral reef tomorrow", Rin invited
