She was close but wasn't close enough to warn Charlene, she watched her as she fell and she silently mourned her partner, it didn't dampen her resolve to keep moving, though she knew he was close by, she couldn't see him. It was going to be dark soon and she prayed darkness would come fast so that she would have the advantage.

Unlike Charlene, Prisca had grown up in the woods, her father was a professional marksman and the most highly acclaimed hunter in their town.
From when she could walk her father took her to hunting trips and camping, showed her how to track animals and mask trails, he showed how how to improvise with different instruments in hunting and even thought her how to shoot a gun, before prisca entered high school, she could aim and have a perfect shot. She also learned how to trend softly in the woods without making a noise, she learnt that darkness was her friend and she could use it any way it pleased her. She always found hunting experience intriguing though her mother always protested each time her father took her with him on his trips.
She rose up to the role of a guide each time her school went camping. It gave her joy to have much power over her classmates, having them hang on to every word she said for their survival.
She had the same confidence now, even though a thought kept nagging her that he knows the woods better than she.
She began to follow a trail which she believed would lead her deeper into the forest. She figured she rather take her chances with the wild animals than the psychopath.

He was supposed to be having a good day. He was out on business and just came back the previous evening and so he decided to celebrate his business success by having a double entertainment. Jasmine was his first of course, and he decided to have Charlene for the afternoon.
He was exhausted and could still feel his weakness even as he combed through the bushes. He was furious that they would think him stupid or powerless not to act. He blamed himself for giving them the liberty to even conceive of escaping. He blamed himself for falling asleep, he was supposed to watch her as she cleaned the house. He didn't want to overly stress Jasmine to do the house chores and so he appointed the idiot to do it.

He stopped for a moment and smiled, he had found her trail. He was surprised on how well she could mask trails but he was an expert. He finally began to feel he was at the end of his journey.
Earlier he felt happy as he put the bullet thru Charlene, the bitch deserved more but he didn't have the time to torture her, he simply stood over her for a moment before continuing his search. He regretted not disposing of them earlier, he didn't want anyone else but Jasmine and couldn't understand why he kept those two. Maybe this was a way of remind him what a stupid choice he made.

He began to head deeper into the forest, she may think she would escape but she is grossly mistaken.
