Chapter Thirteen

It was the hardest 24 hrs of his life, Felix had even forgotten he was supposed to sleep and have a quiet weekend with Helen. He stood outside the hospital room remembering what had happened.
The driver if the car thankfully did not get seriously injured and he never got to go home to his kids as he wanted. He had been smart enough to call the police on seeing the girl. She fainted and was rushed to the hospital, when her finger prints came thru, he was alerted.

On getting to the scene he met forty five officers waiting for him and together they started searching the area, more people and search dogs soon joined the search and after about 3 hrs they found the body of a man shot with an arrow in the woods, he had a shot gun which matched the bullet wound on Prisca that pierced her ribs, it was a long one hour before he was finally identified and police raided his home.

His house looked like a living nightmare, all the windows were shut and all curtains drawn. They combed thru every inch of the house, they saw the round room filled with torture tools of all kinds, they also found another room filled with red boxes. Further search discovered a survivor.
She was bony, and from all indications had been there a long time. She became hysteric the moment she was touched and was then heavily  sedated. It took another three hours to find her identity and look for a next of kin. A drawer in one of the rooms contained the ID cards of all the missing ladies, and it was discovered that three of them haven't been found.

The search in the area continued till they came upon the body of a young woman, from all indications it seemed she tried to escape with Prisca but met her untimely demise. They combed through the woods more and after another seven hours, they came across two graves. It seemed they were his first two victims till he decided he was tired if digging graves. More families were notified and they media swarmed the area, it became a national news and every body thought it an irony that the killer met his death at the hands of a victim.

Felix held several press conferences until his throat became patched. He answered a lot of questions and his superior kept him for an hour. He couldn't even think of the paper work that will be done later. He didn't even know where he kept his phone until an officer walked up to him

'Sir, your wife us on line three' he said.
He spoke briefly to Helen and couldn't even assure her that he would be home by dinner. She understood and wished him luck. He hung up thinking
'After this baby, you and I will go on a vacation'

The work continued and then in the last hour he got a call that Prisca's parents who had left town to see a relative just came in. He met them at the airport and took them straight to the hospital.
'The surgery was a success but the next 24 hrs will be critical, if she pulls they, we will expect she makes a good recovery' the doctors informed them.

He talked to them in the hospital because they couldn't bear to be apart from their daughter. He explained all the information he had so far and they were  relieved to know that the monster was dead.

Now standing outside her room he suddenly felt weary, he began to walk to the vending machine when the over head speaker came on
'Code blue, room 23, code blue,'
People started rushing and he stopped an orderly
'What does code blue mean? He asked
'It means the patient is going into cardiac arrest' the orderly explained and took off
It took a moment for him to remember that Prisca's room was room 23. When he remembered he started running back

He reached the commotion outside the room and saw Prisca's mum shouting.
'No! Please, this can't be happening., no!!!
Then he heard the doctor say
'time of death;  5: 28am'.
