I followed Ryder closely all day, as he told me too, avoiding Evan and his stupid little friends. We went outside and walked quickly to his car, I pulled my hood up and leaned against his car. Luke jogged over and smiled.
"So who has shotgun?" Luke asked, I shrugged and started to say he did,
"Aaron does." Ryder said unlocking the doors and getting in the driver seat. I looked at him confused as Luke got in the back, then walked around the car and got in. Ryder turned the radio on and pulled out, driving down a road I'd never been down before. I glanced at him and noticed he wasn't buckled, and he was speeding. I shifted in my seat and starred out my window, watching the road become surrounded by trees. Then we turned off the road and started driving along a bike trail. I grabbed the door handle and tried to not look as freaked out as I was. Ryder was still going really fast and Luke didn't seem fazed by it, so I didn't want to seem freaked out either. Other cars came into view, not a lot, and Ryder pulled up next to a blue Mercedes.
"Hunter's already here." Luke said happily as he got unbuckled and hopped out before Ryder even turned the car off. Ryder shook his smiling slightly and took the key out of the ignition. I got unbuckled and Ryder locked the doors, grabbing my jacket and pulling me close to him. I gulped and kept my eyes on his, they were intense and serious. My heart felt like it was going to explode.
"Don't drink anything you haven't opened yourself, even from me or Luke. Don't put your drink down, don't hold it out of eye sight. Understand?" He asked lowly. I nodded and swallowed hard.
"Yea, yes." I said. He let go and unlocked the doors, I took a deep breath and opened the door, trying to clam myself down, and not think about my reaction to what just happened. We left our backpacks in his car and he locked it behind us. I walked with him, not really knowing what to do or where to go, and we found Luke and Hunter.
"Hey guys! Thank you so much for giving Luke a ride, I was supposed to but I skipped today." Hunter said, Ryder smiled and nodded.
"I figured. It's cool." He said leaning on the wooden picnic table they were sitting on.
"Aaron you came! Awesome. This is such a fun party I'm glad you didn't end up having to miss it." He said smiling. I chuckled and nodded. Luke looked past us and shifted away from Hunter slightly, Hunter looked at him, upset at first, then he sat on the bench part instead of the table. I looked over my shoulder and saw Evan getting out of a car with Josh and Jake. I quickly turned back around and put my hands in my pockets.
"So why'd you decide to skip?" I asked. Hunter shrugged and Ryder handed me a can, then he gave Hunter and Luke one also.
"Thanks Ryder. I just didn't want to come today, I overslept and had a headache for a while." Hunter said cracking open the can, I looked at Ryder who was already drinking from his and looked at Luke who was opening his.
"Try it, it's really good. If you like sweet stuff I mean, it tastes like apples." Luke said nodding to the can in my hand, I read the label and did a double take. It was beer, actual beer. Who even bought this and why was everyone so relaxed about it? I cracked the can open and glanced around at them again, they all were acting like this was completely normal, and Hunter was watching me with a slight smirk. It wasn't sweet, it was Angry Orchard, I'd had it before, it tasted like apple flavored beer, which isn't sweet. It also was strong, I realized they thought I'd never had beer before and smiled a little.
"Gonna try it or just stand there holding it?" Izzy asked walking over with a can in her hands, a shorter ginger haired girl with green eyes followed shyly behind her. They all were looking at me now, I shrugged and brought the can to me lips, downing the entire thing in three swift gulps.
"How..?" Hunter's eyes were wide and his jaw was hanging open, they all looked surprised. I burst out laughing and put the can down.
"Did you guys really think I was that innocent?" I asked still laughing. Ryder smirked and walked away as I composed myself. The taste lingered i my mouth and I wanted another one, but I knew I shouldn't. I looked at Izzy and nodded at the girl behind her.
"So do we get to meet the cutie behind you?" I asked in a teasing tone. She laughed and flipped me off.
"This is Clary, my girlfriend." She said beaming, Clary waved and tossed me another can.
"Can you open that for me?" She asked, I nodded and stepped closer to wear she was standing, opening it so her and Izzy could watch me, then handed back to her. She smiled and nodded, then chugged it. Ryder came back carrying two glass bottles and some red plastic cups.
"Fresh and unopened. Let's see just how innocent you are Aaron." He said smirking at me as he put the bottles down. I read the labels and nodded with a smile. Vodka and Whisky, two that burned and had a high alcohol level.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were just trying to get me drunk." I said opening the Vodka and pouring some in a cup, filling it as much as I could without having to worry about it spilling.
"Bro he has no idea what he's doing." Luke said laughing. I smirked and chugged the whole cup, not wincing or even shutting my eyes once. I put my cup down and started to open the Whisky.
"Okay, I'm officially done. This boy just put down a whole cup of straight vodka with no pauses and not a single tear in his eye." Hunter said. I chuckled and poured the same amount of Whisky into my cup and held it up.
"Cheers." I said smiling and downed it even faster than the vodka. I put my cup down after crinkling it up and smirked at Ryder.
"What else you got for me?" He nodded impressed and held his hands up. Then he poured himself a drink and sat on the bench.
"I'll give it to you, that was damn impressive. Now lets see how long you can hold it down." He said smiling at me. I chuckled and took my jacket off.
"Takes more than that to get me drunk." I said sitting next to Luke. My throat was burning and the taste was bitter in my mouth, I could feel my head getting fuzzy and I wanted more. But I knew I shouldn't drink anything else, I came too far to fall back down that hole.
