A tall brown haired boy stood at the bottom of the bleachers smirking mischievously while Ryder glared at him. I looked between the two of them until what I heard finally processed in my head. He just called me Ryder's bitch. I looked at him again, this time pissed off, his eyes shifted to me and he started laughing.

"Not very bright is he?" The boy said, starring at Ryder still smirking. Ryder's muscles tensed.

"Brighter than you, you badass wannabe." He said lowly, venom thick in his voice. His cool blue eyes seemed so cold and harsh, like he was empty of all emotions other than hate and anger.

"At least I'm not desperate enough to become the bad boy's bitch." He sneered back, he looked me up and down and chuckled coldly. "Didn't think weak and pathetic was your type, although I'm not surprised." He said stepping up on the bleachers, lessening the distance between us.

"He's not my bitch! Unlike you I know how to make friends, first of all." He said balling his hands into fists.

"And you can fuck off with that 'weak and pathetic' shit! I'm not his bitch, I'm not weak, and the only pathetic one right now, is you." I said glaring at him. He looked at me surprised, his sharp blue eye shooting daggers at me, I didn't soften my glare.

"Oh and he speaks. Good, I thought I was going to have to get all my information from Ryder." He said taking another step up. "What other tricks do you know?" He asked tauntingly. I could feel my leg shaking.

"I know lots of 'tricks.' I could demonstrate some for you, shut you up real easy." I said through my teeth. I was standing now. He smirked and stepped up again, my whole arm was tense, ready to throw a punch. Ryder's hand touched my shoulder.

"He's not worth the time Aaron, he's just a lowlife piece of shit." Ryder said pulling me back down. "Evan likes to pretend he's a badass because he has nothing better to do with his miserable life." He said louder, so Evan could hear.

"You act so high and mighty. have fun with your bitch." He said walking down the bleachers. I stood and started to follow him.

"I'll show you a fucking bitch!" I yelled, Ryder grabbed my arm and twisted it up behind my back and grabbed my shoulder with his other hand.

"Don't. He's not worth it." He said calmly, I tried to pull away and he pushed my arm up more, I winced and stopped moving. We stood like that for what felt like longer than necessary, but I didn't say anything. Once my breathing was normal he let go of me slowly.

"Calm?" He asked, I nodded, refusing to look up. I was embarrassed at how angry I'd gotten, and how irrational I was acting. He started walking down the bleachers and I followed him, rubbing my arm that he had pinned behind me. We walked back to the door and picked up our backpacks, then went inside and just stood there silently until the bell rang.

We walked to gym and dropped our bags on the floor in the corner where everyone else was putting their bags. I looked around and ran a hand through my hair, looking everywhere but Ryder.

"Alright! Line up along the wall and start jogging, I want three laps around the gym!" Our teacher yelled, we all started jogging. Our teacher was a tall, buff looking man with a bald head and deep set eyes. He did not look like someone to piss off. I jogged with Ryder, not wanting to leave his side and risk being alone, or another asshole trying to start with me again. But I avoided his eyes and kept my head down, not wanting to draw anymore attention to myself. We were silent, and it felt extremely awkward as we kept perfect pace with each other. I stole a glance at him, his jaw was set and his eyes were staring forward, harsh and cold. I could see he was tense. I slowed down unintentionally, looking at my feet and wishing I hadn't looked up from them.

"Are you okay?" He asked matching my pace, his tone was flat. I didn't respond, I didn't know how to. We finished our third lap and stopped. I just stood there, starring at the ground feeling embarrassed and guilty.

"Aaron? You okay?" He asked again, his voice was still flat. I nodded and looked up, at the wall across from us. I wasn't okay, but I didn't know how to explain it to him, or myself really. The teacher said something but I didn't hear him. I followed Ryder upstairs to the weight room without realizing it fully. I watched him walk over to the punching bags, put on the padded gloves and start punching it. He was so focused, it was like nothing else was there, just him and that bag. The chains were shaking and the bag was flailing around from how hard he was punching it. I swallowed and looked around, finding a bench. I walked over and started to change to weights on the bar, then I laid down down and started to lift. I did 55 reps before I stopped and switched to the normal weights. I did 20 reps with each arm and started doing jumping jacks, then I switched to the treadmill, then the stepping machine, then I started doing push ups, then sit ups, then crunches. I was completely spaced out, I didn't want to stop moving and I didn't think I could either.

I kept moving, working myself more than I should. I wasn't seeing anything other than what I was doing. My muscles were getting sore, and I breathing heavily but I did't want to stop. I was distracted, not thinking about anything but what I was doing. I was tired and could feel sweat running down my head and back.

"Aaron." Ryder said, his hand was on my shoulder now. I kept walking on the treadmill, slowly coming back to reality, I knew if I stopped my legs would give out on me.

"Aaron class is over, you need to stop." He said turning the treadmill off. My eyes widened and I reached to turn it back on before it stopped fully but he pushed my hand away.

"No, you need to stop, you're gonna hurt yourself." He said. I stopped and my right leg gave out, I caught myself on my left leg, then that leg gave out also. Ryder's arm wrapped around my chest quickly and he grabbed my right bicep with his other hand.

"Shit, are you okay?" He asked, he sounded worried. I chuckled and rolled my eyes, I wanted to nod and say yes but it was pretty obvious that was a lie.

"I'll be fine, just did too much." I said trying support my own weight. Ryder kept his arms firmly around me, my legs were shaking. I sighed and looked down.

"You can put me down." I said quietly, he scoffed.

"Yea, let me just put you on the floor." He said sarcastically. I tried again to support my own weight, with more luck this time. My legs were more steady and Ryder slowly let me go. He watched me carefully as I started walking to the door, then he started to follow me downstairs. We grabbed our backpacks and walked out to the parking lot. I was sore as hell and wanted to lay down, but I didn't want to worry him anymore so I acted like I was fine until I got to my car.

"See you tomorrow." He called, waving at me as he continues to his car, I smiled and waved back, then shut my door and started the car. I waited until he pulled out to start driving, grimacing the whole drive home.
