I was walking alone in a dark room. I only saw one small sliver of light, he was standing under it. His green hair stood out against the endless black. As I walked closer he turned to face me. When he saw me, he smiled. He grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. "Mark. I lo-"
I started to open my eyes. Everything was so bright. When my eyes finally adjusted to the light, I realized that I was in a hospital room. I was a bit weirded out because I wasn't connected to any machines or anything. I quickly pressed the button that would call the nurse. She smiled at me when she walked in. "I see you're finally awake."
I just nodded my head in response. "I'm sure you're wondering why you aren't connected to anything." I nodded to that too, "Well, we didn't really need to connect you to anything because nothing too serious happened. You just had an extreme panic attack so we had to sedate you. If you think you're ready, we can let you leave. Although, you should probably wait because the doctor had some questions for you." At that exact moment, the doctor walked into my room, "Well, speak of the devil! Doctor Nate, don't you have some questions for the patient here?" The nurse asked.
"I do. You can go now nurse." The nurse smiled and walked out of the room, "Now, I have just a few questions to ask you. What is your name?" He asked me.
I don't want to talk, but I don't have a choice at the moment. "M-Mark."
"Okay, thank you Mark." He wrote something down on his notepad. "Do these panic attacks happen to you often? Or is this the first panic attack you've had?"
I knew I needed to lie. My mom and Shane would kill me if they found out. "T-this i-is the f-first o-o-one." I mentally slapped myself for the stuttering.
"Hmm. Okay. Since that was the first one you've had, it was probably stress related." He once again wrote something on his notepad. "That's all the questions I had. You can leave now." He was about to walk out when he stopped. "By the way, the kid who called 9-1-1 for you left you this. And you need to give the lady at the front desk the other slip so she knows you're aloud to leave." He walked back to the bed and gave me a piece of paper and the slip.
When he walked out of the room, I opened the note. Call me: xxx-xxx-xxxx -Jack. Jack wants me to call him. Me. I decided to call him when I left the hospital.
I got off the bed and started walking to the desk. When I got there, I handed the lady the slip the doctor gave me. She just nodded and let me leave. When I got outside, I sat down on a bench that was outside the hospital. I typed Jack's number in my phone and was about to call him when I remembered something, I stutter. Whatever, I'll just text him instead. I put in his number and saved him in my phone as 'Jack'.
M: Hey. It's Mark.
J: Oh. I thought I said to call me?
M: Sorry, my throat hurts.
J: Okay. So, are you okay? You really freaked me out.
M: Oh. I'm fine! :) The Doctor said it was just stress related.
J: To me, it seemed like a little more than that tho....
M: Nope! Just stress.
J: So, why did you start walking next to me anyway? I didn't even see you at first.
M: idk. I don't even remember going to walk next to you.
J: Oh. Okay. Well, I have to go. My mom wants me down for dinner. I'll text you later.
M: Okay! Bye.
J: ByeI sat on the bench for a few more minutes just thinking about how much I lied in that conversation. You're such a piece of shit. You can't even tell the truth for one second. Maybe you should just kill yourself. Jack wouldn't care, you'd be making him happy. He doesn't even like you. Who would want to be friends with a fuck up like you? They're right. He's probably just doing it because he likes to be nice. He would do it with anyone. I'm nothing special. He probably won't even text me later.
I felt my phone vibrate, meaning I got a text.
Mom: Where the fuck are you?! Shane said you didn't come home from school! You better get to this house as soon as fucking possible.
