28: Four Days

Another update! I stayed up the night before school starts but its okay because it's worth it and besides I hate school. Enjoy ♥

The last few days have been rough. Everyone's been on edge since they found out Victoria was creating an army. The Cullens aren't sure when the army is coming-let alone if the army is even coming at all. This has caused all of them to be more aware; more in defense mode than they were already .It also caused Jacob to be extremely over-protective of me, barely letting me out of his sight. No one has told me exactly what was discussed at the meeting; they avoid the question or gave a vague answer.

Right now we're all gathered at Sam's house, eating lunch that Emily made. Kim tagged along with Jared, eager to tell me all about her appointment. Jacob had gone off somewhere, he wouldn't tell me where exactly. All he said was "I'll be back don't worry" and with a kiss he was gone.

"So I've discovered that I'm 12 weeks along", Kim announced smiling as she bit into her chicken. Everyone perked up at the news, congratulated her and Jared. Kim's pregnancy was the only thing happy going on this moment. "Did you find out if it's a boy or a girl"? Seth questioned cheerfully from the floor, looking over at Kim with a cheeky smile.

"It's way too early to know you idiot". Embry laughed from beside me, while I smacked his arm. "Embry how would he know"? Kim smiled kindly over at the young boy. "Not yet Seth, the baby isn't developed enough. Although I probably won't wanna know what I'm having, I want it to be a surprised."

Jared wrapped his arm around his imprint, kissing her cheek. "Really? I feel like you would have to know." He sounded slightly shocked but nonetheless gave her a grand smile. Kim looked at him with so much love and nodded. "I would but it would be an amazing surprise. Are you up for it"? "Of course, whatever you want".

After giving us more details on the health of the baby, everyone went back to their conversations or watching the basketball game they had on. As I continued to eat, my eyes glanced around the room. Everyone was cluttered around together, laughing and eating. Sam sat in his reclining chair, Emily perched on his lap. Both were lost in each other's conversation. Leah was in her favorite old rocking chair in the corner, which was moved a little closer to my surprise. She seemed irritated and bitter as usual but more tolerable; the book she was reading for her college summer assignment in her lap.

Embry, Quil, and I were squished together on one end on the couch, while Jared and Kim had the other end. Embry and Quil laughed and joked around, high-fiving each other whenever their team scored. Jared and Kim were like Emily and Sam, lost in each other's conversation. Jared's hand stayed planted on Kim's stomach. Paul and Seth ended up stuck on the floor, Seth still happily chatting with everyone. Paul was less cheery, mostly on his phone, but still talked and messed around.

As I stared around, my smile grew. A giddy warm feeling erupted through me; I could feel my throat start to swell. Ever since I left Tacoma, I finally felt like I have a family. This was my family, all these people who cared about me. No more feeling ostracized, I know now this is where I belong.

Time passed on and soon everyone was finished eating, and thankfully someone had put on The Town. It happened to be one of my favorite films so I watched intently while everyone continued their soft chatter. I couldn't ignore the nagging feeling in my stomach, and it made me check my phone every few seconds. It bothered me that Jacob didn't come back yet, and with each passing minute I felt myself get more anxious. Embry sensed how I felt, and would give me small smiles or say something to make me laugh.

Not too far along in the movie, Kim stood up along with Jared. "We have to go guys, we'll see you later". They said their goodbyes and walked to the door, but not before Kim turned on her heels. "Oh I almost forgot, Samantha"? I turned my head at the sound of my name, my eyebrows raised up. "Would you wanna go to the mall today"? I nodded, agreeing to the plans.
