8: Meadow

I flipped endlessly through the channels on the t.v. Today was such a boring day. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. It's been about two weeks since I moved to La Push. I figured since we are surrounded by forest, I could go explore it. Or play manhunt with everyone. But Paul won't let go into the forest. He won't even let me go outside by myself. I have to go with him, or with someone else. Last week I wanted to walk around, he made Quil go with me.

It annoyed me at first, but then I talked to Mr.Lahote. He told me that Paul was just being overprotective. So for the past two weeks I stayed at home with Paul, or went to Sam's house.

Paul was sleeping next to me on the couch; his legs sprawled on my lap. I tried to move them, it was like moving bricks. I managed to squeeze out. I decided to go explore out in the forest. Nothing bad was gonna happen to me; Paul is just too paranoid and overprotective.

I glanced over at him. He looked peaceful in his very deep sleep. I didn't want him to worry, so I'm going to write him a note. I got a pen out of my pocket, and a grabbed a piece of paper from the table.

Going to explore. Don't worry I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself.

I grabbed my purse. It was chilly outside; I regretted wearing a strapless dress. The wind whipped at my bare arms, making me shiver. To distract myself from the cold, I listen to the crunch of the twigs beneath my shoes. I walked through the forest, not really knowing where I'm going. I came across a small meadow, with small little flowers everywhere. I sat on a log and closed my eyes, to enjoy the nice peace of nature.

"Samantha"?

I jumped and opened my eyes, to see Jacob standing with his arms cross. "What are you doing here? It's not safe for you to be in the forest." He frowned.

I clutch my chest, “I’m not that far from the house, and it is still daylight. What's the worst that could happen to me"? I tried to calm my heartbeat.

He mumbled something under his breath.

"Huh"?

"Nothing".

He sat next to me, and his face softened. "I come here a lot; it's a place where no one will be able to bother me".

He gently grabbed my hand. "I never got the chance to tell you thank you for helping me that day". He stared into my eyes.

My heart skipped a beat. "No problem". Our faces where inches apart. I could kiss his luscious lips; run my hand through his inky black hair; feel up his abs. What was I thinking; he probably doesn't even feel the same way about me.

I looked down. "So do you guys do anything fun around here" I asked him.

He grinned. "We go cliff diving, that's fun. I was planning on asking the pack if they wanted to go. You can come if you want to come".

I thought about it. I don't like heights, but it will be better than staying at home. Who knows maybe I could jump with him.

"Okay", I smiled.

"Great".

We sat in silence. I felt safe with Jacob, like nothing was going to hurt me. I liked that feeling.

"Can I ask you a question"?

I looked up at him, "of course".

"Should I invite Bella"?

Jealously ran through me. "Sure, if you forgive her for what she did".

"I do. I can't be moping around all the time. She is my best friend".

"Then do it".

He smiled, "I will. Let's go back so we can get ready to go".

We walked back, and talked some more. He never let go of my hand
