Wind whipped my hair around my face. I quickly tied it up to free my sight. I stepped away from Newt, earning a small sound of protest.
Right at the ledge of the roof, I was able to see the carnage the Obscurus was ripping through the city. Newt approached to my left, and Tina to my right. I met my horrified expression with Newt's grave one.
"I've got to help it. Take this, keep them safe. And this." Newt shoved his case into my arms, and his notebook into my backpack. Thankfully, my notebook full of potions recipes was left in there by Graves. Without another word, Newt Disapparated from the roof.
"Newt!" I called after him. My eyebrows furrowed in determination, and I handed Tina the case. She protested as I, too, Disapparated directly into the fray.
----------------------------------------------
A wild spell was hurled toward Elliott. She squeaked and ducked behind an overturned car. The brunette peeked around the bumper. Her heart jumped into her throat.
The Obscurus was attacking Graves. Newt stood in the middle, desperate eyes looking from the car she was behind, to Graves, to the Obscurus. With a wave of the wand, Newt was thrown out of the way of Graves. Immediately, he got up and ran to her car for cover.
"What are you doing here?" His hand slammed against the bottom of the car next to Elliott's head. The ground shook violently. Newt's other arm flew up to brace himself and protect the green-eyed girl. She glared lightly at him.
"Helping you, you idiot!" She shouted and pushed Newt out of the way. Her wand was immediately in her hand. Fueled by anger towards Graves and the need to help the Obscurus, Elliott marched forward.
"Expelliarmus!" The spell hit Graves' back, but did nothing. He turned, furious.
"Ah, if it isn't the little rat, Elliott. Come to save your dear Newt?" He taunted. Her eyes burned with fire. His eyes flicked behind her.
"Look, you brought Tina with you! The girl that doesn't know when she's not wanted."
"Incendio!" Elliott shouted and flicked her wand. Fire sprouted from the end. Graves simply waved his wand and instantly the fire was turned to ice. The giant block fell and shattered on the asphalt.
"That's the problem with you British wizards. Always know what you're gonna do!" He smirked and with a flick of the wrist, Elliott was launched across the street and into a mail box. She groaned and sat up. Her head hung low, hair hanging in her face.
"Elliott! We have to move, Newt and Graves are chasing the Obscurus," Tina said as she ran over. "Are you alright?" Elliott remained silent, but looked up to Tina.
The short-haired witch slapped her hand over her mouth in shock. It was wiped away quickly, and she pulled the girl up and Disapparated.
----------------------------------------------
A large magical dome was being lowered over the subway station. Tina and Elliott rolled under just before the shield closed completely. They ran down to the tracks where the Obscurus hung in the air. Elliott stopped and hid behind a pillar. Tina ran on.
"Credence! You must stop this," she shouted. The loud rumbling quieted to a low vibrating.
"He's listening to you, keep talking," Newt urged.
"Credence, it's alright. Graves is using you. But we will protect you. Newt, Elliott, and I can help you. You remember Elliott? She was with me that day." Tina spoke tenderly.
"She is lying!" Graves exclaimed. The Obscurus, Credence, shrieked. Aurors poured in from every entrance.
"Please, don't hurt him!" Newt shouted. Bright white spells were simultaneously fired from every direction, attacking Credence. His human face could be seen vaguely in the mass.
He shot up and out of the roof of the building, causing panic in the muggles watching in the street. He was suspended for a moment, then crashed back down to the ground, destroying himself. Light, feathery pieces of black floated in the air.
"How could you do such a thing?!" Graves demanded.
"I ordered the Obscurus to be killed," Madam Picquery stated and entered gracefully. Graves glared harshly at her. He shot spells at the President. Tina whipped her wand out and disarmed him. Two Aurors held him by the arms. Newt approached, squinting at him.
"Revelio," he said and waved his wand in front of Graves. The man's face morphed, hair changing.
 "Grindelwald."
----------------------------------------------
At the door of the subway stood Madam Picquery. Aurors held Grindelwald firmly in their grasp. He smiled wickedly at the President and at Newt.
"You really think you can hold me?" He asked slyly. The President smiled.
"We will do our best," she said sternly. Grindelwald grinned crookedly and was dragged away. Madam Picquery turned to Newt.
"Well, thank you for catching him, but we are exposed! There's no way to Obliviate a whole city."
"Maybe there is..." Newt scanned his mind. He nodded and placed his case on the ground under the hole made by Credence. He opened it and called down.
Moments later, Frank flew gracefully from the case, showing his shimmering golden feathers. He cawed proudly and settled in front of Newt. The wizard placed a small vial in the beak of the Thunderbird.
"You know what to do. We'll get you to Arizona, eventually." Newt whispered sadly. Frank nuzzled into him, then soared up into the sky, starling muggles. He brought storm clouds around him, pouring rain down.
The vial was crushed, mixing with the rain. Muggles in the street blinked and carried on with their daily business.
"Swooping Evil venom has extraordinary Obliviating properties," Newt explained.
"Thank you. Now get that case out of New York," Madam Picquery joked. She turned to Jacob.
"I'm sorry, but he must be Obliviated too. No exceptions to the rules. I'll give you time to say goodbye." The President and her team of Aurors swiftly left. They went about the streets and building, repairing all that was damaged. Newt looked around the subway. Someone was missing.
"Where's Elliott?" He asked Tina. She furrowed her eyebrows.
"I'm here." A voice called from behind the pillar. Newt moved towards it.
"Why are you hiding, love?" He asked. Slowly, Elliott emerged from behind the pillar. Her head hung low, covering her face with her hair. Newt gently brought her gaze from his shoes to his eyes. He gasped audibly. One half of her face was scarred beyond repair, and had an ugly charred look to it.
 "Who did this?"
"Graves. Grindelwald, whoever he is. He... He shot a spell. I-I don't know what one it is, but it did this," Elliott stuttered around her tears. Newt wrapped his arms around her and kissed the crown of her head.
 "You'll be okay."
----------------------------------------------
The group stood under the covered entrance of the subway. Jacob stood at the front, just inches away from the rain. Queenie reached out to him.
 "You don't have to..."
"Yes, I do. I was never meant to be part of this. Hell, Newt only kept me around because, because. Hey, Newt, why did you keep me?" Jacob turned from Queenie to Newt.
"Because I like you. Because you're my friend." Newt answered. Jacob looked to be on the verge of tears.
"Oh." He turned towards the rain. "Goodbye." He turned and backed into the rain, arms out.
Queenie made and invisible umbrella with her wand and approached Jacob. She kissed him tenderly before disappearing, leaving the man to grasp at nothing. He opened his eyes to an empty subway entrance. Confusion crossed his features before he turned and went about his day.
----------------------------------------------
Jacob stood in line with many other tired workers with him. A flash of blue went by, knocking into him.
"So sorry," the flash apologized and fled swiftly. Jacob scowled lightly until he noticed a case on the ground. He opened it, showing the dazzling silver egg shells inside. On top lay a note.
"Dear Mr. Kowalski, you are no good stuck in a canning factory. Please use these Occamy egg shells to pay the collateral for your bakery. From, a friend." He read to himself. His scowl twisted to a smile.
----------------------------------------------
New Yorkers bustled in and out of Kowalski's Bakery. Inside, the smell of fresh pastries and other sweets was welcoming. There were little treats shaped as wonderful creatures. Demiguises, erumpents, graphorns, nifflers, and occamies lined the shelves.
"Mr. Kowalski, how do you get your ideas?" An older woman asked kindly. He smiled.
"I don't know, they just come to me." He laughed and the woman left. Behind her, looking at the goodies on the wall, was a blonde haired woman with a pink coat on. The woman smiled sweetly. In a daze, Jacob smiled back and a hand reached to the murtlap bite on his neck.
----------------------------------------------
On the docks of a New York harbor stood Newt, Tina, and Elliott. The latter had a hood up to conceal her scarred face from the muggles. Newt and Elliott stopped in front of a crying Tina. Elliott gave her friend a goodbye hug. After spending a day building a new lab in Newt's case, the duo were ready to travel the world more.
"Don't worry, I'll be sure to send you my book the minute I get published," Newt joked. Tina laughed lightly. Elliott took Newt's hand in hers, and they turned to get on the boat. But Newt stopped a moment, turning back to Tina.
"Do you think we could bring you my book in person?" He asked. Tina nodded happily. The trio shared a smile and Newt and Elliott stepped onto the boat without looking back. Tina walked away with a small spring in her step.
