Iris' POV
I continue zooming through the trees. I can't believe I left them alone, Sam isn't ready to look after them. What the hell was I thinking?
They're probably all in so much danger and it's my fault! They are probably- no, think happy thoughts. They're probably fine, yeah, fine.
I charge deeper and deeper into the woods, closer and closer to the sound. The thorns and twigs tear at my skin but I don't care.
Finally, I see a puffy ball of curly hair and I know I've found them. I break into the opening, crouching so that they can all climb onto my back. I pay no attention to the Beta that stands watching, no attention other than a threatening growl.
I continue through the forest knowing that thanks to the kids running onto pack grounds, we have them chasing us too.
It's over.
I can hear the snarls and howls of the pack killing the rouges mixed with the growls of the wolfs following me.
I feel Rae on my back, clinging to my fur in fear. Toby sits close behind her with Sam behind him. I can hear Sam trying to calm them, but I don't think it's working.
Suddenly, pain shoots through my leg making me growl out in pain. I fall to the floor, Rae Toby and Sam fall off my back I land with a smack.
A whimper escapes my lips and I limp over to them. I position myself in front, using my body as a wall to guard them. I tripped by a cliff so we're cornered. At least they can't come up from behind us.
The growls get louder as the wolfs come out from the shadows of the trees. Toby and I each let out a growl of our own which Rae tries to copy.
She is so cute.
Sam hisses at them, showing his fangs and steps beside me, also protecting them. The pack and us stand there, growling and glaring at each other for a while. Finally, the beta steps out in his human form.
"This doesn't have to end in a fight," he says, "shift back and we can talk this out."
A loud growl breaks through the pack. It's not the alpha, simply just a wolf that disagrees with his orders. The growling wolf leaps forwards at me and I swipe it away with my claw.
This doesn't have to end in a fight, huh?
The wolf lands with a thud and slowly another wolf steps out. Just like the first, it lunges at me. I growl as it lands on my back, ripping skin from my neck. Instantly, I roll onto my back and crush it. I stand as another wolf leaps towards me. Before it kills me, Sam uses his vampire strength thing to push it out of his path I see his fangs grow as they smack onto the floor. Without a second hesitation, I shift back into my human form.
"Sam," I snap, "no biting!"
He stops in his tracks to bite the wolf and stands, dusting himself off. He hisses as the wolf like a cat before walking back over to me.
I rip the knife out of my ragged belt. Before I have a chance to end the wolfs life, the beta stops me.
"Don't kill him," he shrugs.
I growl again and look at the Beta, challenging him. This wild just disobeyed his order. 'It doesn't have to end in a fight' that means do not attack the f-ing rouge! It's not rocket science!
"I'm doing you a favour," I growl, "he attacked when you clearly said that we didn't have to fight!"
"He was protecting his friend," he nods towards the dead wolf, "you already killed the one that disobeyed me."
"Great," I say with fake enthusiasm, "well, now that's settled, we'll be on our way."
I grab Toby's hand and lift Rae onto my shoulder, hissing in pain from my leg wound. Stupid rouges. I begin to limp away when Rae speaks.
"What's wrong with your face?"
I feel the sharp slashes over my skin, but don't care. We have to go. Stupid pack wolfs.
I know how I look right now, my clothes are ripped from the fighting and I have a claw slash on my face. My leg is practically torn apart and i feel horrible.
"It's just a scratch," I reply bluntly, trying to get out of the circle around me.
"Come with us to the pack house-"
"What? So you can lock me and Toby in the dungeon, kill Sam and 'dispose' of Rae? No way!"
"-so we can stitch you up and let you rest."
I hesitate, "What's the catch?"
"Does there have to be a catch?"
"With me," I look around slightly, "yes."
He sighs, clearly exhausted. He must be stressed. Try being a rouge your whole life!
"Are you coming?" He asks, walking away already.
"Uhh, do I have a choice?"
"No."
Well, I guess we're coming then.
I limp in the direction he walks with the wolfs surrounding me. Pain. Ouch. Ouch. Pain. I grunt each time my feet touch the ground. Exhausted. Tired.
My feet drag over the floor as my vision gets dizzy.
"Do you want me to take her?" The beta asks, indicating to the sleeping Rae in my arms.
"N-no" I say drowsily, pulling her closer.
I don't trust these people, like I'd put the life of one of the only people I have left into somebody else's hands... literally.
He's persistent. I feel him reach to take her out of my hands and in return, I growl, "I've got it."
No, I don't.
My legs give way and I feel Rae snatched from my hands. As my head makes contact with the floor, the world around me fades into darkness.***
What did I say?
I knew this would happen.
"Come with us to the pack house-"
"What? So you can lock me and Toby in the dungeon, the Sam and 'dispose' or Rae? No way!"
"-so we can stitch you up and let you rest."
"What's the catch?"
What's the catch! It was a bloody lie! That's the catch.
I look around at the silver door and stone walls, one of which I'm leaning on.
I'm locked in the dungeons, alone.
Instantly, I climb to my feet. I use the wall to support my balance as my vision goes blurred. Slowly, i pull myself together.
"Toby!" I yell, "Rae! Sam!"
Silence
"Sam! Toby! Rae! Can you hear me?"
Again, I'm greeted by silence.
Please be alive
I let my body press against the wall and slowly sink to the floor. Somebody cleaned my leg up, but it still feels a mess.
Bang.
My head shoots up at the sound of a door smacking open.
Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
The footsteps echo down the hall.
There's the rattling of keys and I feel my heart stop in my chest as the beautiful scent of pine fills my lungs.
The door slams open and a man steps in.
"Mine," he growls.
