Rebecca was suppose to meet her best friend Hanna at the ice scream shop, 32 below a half an hour ago. She didn't fully understand why her friend wanted to go out for ice cream. It was past eight o'clock and under sixty degrees. She sat outside the shop, trying to keep warm by rubbing her bare arms. Rebecca should have known not to show up on time. Hanna could never be on time somewhere to save her own life. She had bought Hanna a watch for her birthday once, but she quickly misplaced it. Not being able to stand the violent chilly breezes any longer, Rebecca walked inside the shop. She let out a shaky breath as the temperature in the shop was not much better than outside. Rebecca scanned the room to make sure Hanna wasn't secretly hiding out in the shop the whole time. She expected exactly that and to find Hanna to laughing at her once she finally realized it was just a joke. But, Hanna was nowhere to be seen.

"I swear-" she huffed and sat down on a soft warm couch next to a boy who was eating his Industrial Chocolate flavored ice cream.

He was bundled up for the winter. Wearing a heavy winter coat, a big floppy hat, a gold scarf, and black gloves. He looked very warm. Rebecca envied him for looking so comfortable. She silently cursed to herself for not being smart enough to bring anything. Rebecca would kill for a jacket right now. As she sat there hating herself for agreeing to come out this late, she pulled out her phone to find out where Hanna was at. She attempted to slide her phone to unlock, but her hands would not stop shaking. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the boy glancing at her. He was probably gloating silently that he was smart enough to bring a coat and how she was going to get frostbite. Rebecca shot a glare and he couldn't help but smile. That caught her off guard.

"You aren't from here, are you?" he asked tilting his head.

"I've lived here for the past six years." she replied shakily. "I just wasn't planning on staying this long." Rebecca added.

He nodded, acting like he understood. Rebecca turned her attention back to her phone. Another five minutes had gone by. Her parents were going to kill her if she was late for curfew which was in an hour. There was no way she was even going to wait that long.

"You waiting for your boyfriend?" he asked out of nowhere. That caught her by surprise.

"No, I don't have a boyfriend. I am waiting for my friend though." she took a look at her phone once again. "But, I am about to leave."

"Hanna?" he asked. She looked over and shot him a bewildered look.

"Yeah, how did you know?" Rebecca asked shocked.

"I was suppose to meet her as well. As you can see, I gave up and just got myself some ice cream." he took a bite of his ice cream and looked quite pleased with himself.

"Hanna never told me we were meeting-" she paused not knowing the boy's name.

"Dale." he replied as if he knew exactly what she was wondering. "Not a lot of people do. I'm not a social butterfly." he looked back at Rebecca once again with guilt on his face.

Here he was toasty warm, and she felt as if she was in the cold waters of the atlantic. Dale glanced down at his ice cream once again before putting the cup down on the small red table. He slowly took of his jacket and Rebecca quickly reacted. Her eyes widened and she pushed her hands out to shove the jacket to his chest.

¨What are you doing?" she gasped.

He tilted his head again. ¨You look cold-¨

¨I am..." interrupted. ¨But I just met you." her cheeks heated up even though she was very cold.

¨Oh come on, I don't have any diseases." he chuckled at his own joke. Rebecca hesitated.

She did not want to seem needy and poor by taking the jacket, but Rebecca also did not want to be rude by not taking it. Rebecca let out a tiny sigh and took the jacket slowly. ¨Thanks." she replied blushing.

¨No problem." he looked over at her as she put the jacket on her shoulders. ¨Are you getting any ice cream?" he asked.

She shook her head. ¨I do not think so. I am going to head home soon. Later me and Hanna are going to have some words." Rebecca smiled broadly as she snuggled against the warm jacket.

¨You never told me your name." he says out of nowhere once again.

¨It's Rebecca." she replied.

¨Dale." he said back.

¨You told me that already.¨ she smiled once again closing her eyes.

¨Oh I know, I just do not want you to forget me.¨ he said atlas which left her silent with a thousand words to say.
