Peter couldn't stop thinking about Felix's plan. Should he warn Fiona? Or should he let her get what she deserves? He looked over to where Fiona was. She was supervising a target practice, and Devin was up next. Peter watched carefully, tempted to go up there for the boys' safety. This was because Fiona wasn't really doing a good job on making sure if each shot was going to make it... He flinched when he heard the arrow being shot and hitting the apple and the tree behind it. He was impressed by Devin. "Well he has improved from the last time I've seen him shoot..."
"If he improved then you downgraded. I bet your skills aren't as good as they were before." Felix said, standing behind him. Peter turned to face him,
"What did you say?"
"You heard me, Pan."
He stood up now, "How would you know?"
"Maybe if you go shoot we'll find out. I'll tell Fiona that I've requested it." Felix walked over to where the target practice was and told Fiona. She looked over at Peter,
"Boys, step aside. Peter is going to shoot this next one."
Peter walked over, feeling the boys' eyes on him. Devin handed him a crossbow and he then loaded it. Phillip was the target with the apple on his head. Peter raised his weapon and aimed for the apple, pulling the trigger as soon as he knew he'd get a clear shot. It hit the apple dead in the centre and pinned the fruit to the tree behind the target boy. He then lowered the weapon. The boys gawked at Peter's perfect shot.
"He still has it..."
"Can he get his title back as leader?..."
"What even happened to him?..."
Peter looked over at Fiona and Felix to find that they were impressed.
Felix leaned over towards Fiona,
"I thought he would've lost his aim..."
She cleared her throat, "That was very good, Peter."
"Thanks..."
"Can I talk to you?"
He nodded and handed the crossbow to a boy who didn't have one.
Fiona began to speak once they were a safe distance away, "How come you still have your survival skills, yet haven't used them to stop me?"
He furrowed his eyebrows, "What do you mean?"
"You shot perfectly."
"Not every immortal with magic by their side is promised to have good aim... I've had the skill for a long time."
She arched her eyebrow, "Intriguing..." She thought for a moment. "What if I were to let you be a lost boy instead? Can I trust you?"
Her question caught him off guard, "Wait, what? What do you mean?"
"Can I trust you?"
His brows furrowed in confusion, "I guess..?"
She smiled slightly, "Good, you can be a lost boy instead." She walked back to the target practice.
"What just happened?" Peter thought, confused.
"Peter! Come, get in line!" Fiona called out to him.
He turned around and saw that everyone was staring at him. He came over to the line and stood the the back awkwardly. Practice resumed, but he still felt a few eyes upon him. Devin went to the back to be with Peter.
"What just happened? What did she say to you?"
"She said I can be a lost boy instead..."
"Really?!" Excitement was heard in the boy's voice.
"Yeah."
"That's good! At least you have more freedom!"
"Yeah, I guess I do..." Peter looked over at Fiona and saw that she watched the boys as they shot the apples on Phillip's head. Felix's plan came back to his mind... Fiona was beginning to be nice to him. But an act of kindness out of all of the cruelty shouldn't deserve an act in return, right?
Target practice went on and eventually stopped. Peter went to put his crossbow away.
"Peter, wait." Fiona said.
He turned to find her with an apple in hand.
"Shoot one last time..."
He raised an eyebrow, taking his crossbow back along with an arrow. They went to the target area and Fiona stood, apple on head.
"You're sure you want to do this?" Peter asked.
"Yes, Peter, I trust you." Was this a test?
He looked around to see that the boys were watching, curious on if he was going to shoot. He looked back at her and she gave a nod of encouragement. He sighed and took his aim. Should he shoot? His hands were becoming shaky and he licked his lower lip, trying to concentrate. He pulled the trigger...
