“Hurry up, Lieta,” Deyanira commanded, “We have to check the blood-bowl!”
“I’m coming!” Lieta said as she caught up with Deyanira, “And we’re almost there anyways—there’s no need to run.”
“Whatever.” Deyanira said, “I was just trying to find out if it worked quicker.”
Lieta rolled her eyes and slightly sped up her pace. She did want to know if it worked.
“I see the bowl!” Deyanira said before she started running.
“Wait up!” Lieta said just as she saw Deyanira get to the bowl and her entire demeanor change. Lieta stopped for a second and then ran the rest of the way to the bowl.
When Lieta made it to the bowl, she understood why Deyanira’s attitude had changed.
“It didn’t work…” Deyanira said, defeated, “I thought it was going to work…”
Lieta couldn’t figure out anything to say.
Deyanira turned to leave as she said, “I can’t believe this.”
“It’s okay,” Lieta said, “So what if this didn’t work—we still have time left. Over eight thousand hours left to stop this thing. We’ll figure out something.”
“Maybe.” Deyanira said.
