Three weeks later Cole was being discharged from the hospital in the care of his sister. He did not like the idea of moving in with Natalie and having to depend on her to get him from A to B, but he knew he had no option, as he would not be allowed to drive for at least another three months.

“Well my dear brother now you have to obey my every command if you wish to get well and have me drive you everywhere too.” Natalie laughed, as she wheeled her brother out the hospital to the car park.

“Hey Sis, don’t think I can’t take you over my lap and give you a good spanking if you get on my nerves.” Cole laughed with his sister.  He was so pleased to finally be leaving the hospital.

At home his sister took charge immediately and ordered him to bed to rest after their tedious drive home, being stuck in a traffic jam for over an hour. Cole began to protest but his sister very quickly, made it quite clear she was not going to back down on this occasion, and Cole had to admit he was feeling rather tired. Reluctantly he allowed Natalie to fuss over him and make sure he was comfortable and warm in bed.

“Have a good rest Cole and I will wake you for tea at five, that should give you a good three hours to sleep and hopefully you won’t look as pale and exhausted as you are looking now.”

“Okay, mother hen, I’ll be a good boy and go to sleep.” Cole responded, winking at his sister.

Natalie laughed as she left the room, closing the door behind her.

Cole was surprised how tired he really was and gave in to sleep, snuggling down into the soft pillows that smelled of jasmine.

He had not been asleep long when he felt a soft touch on his cheek. His eyes flew open to find Cherrie bending over him, her fingers running through his hair.

“Where have you been Cole? You’ve been gone for ages. I looked for you everywhere but couldn’t find you.”

Cole sat up and looked around, “Where are we?” He asked Cherrie.

“I think we’re in the church gardens.”

“What church gardens? Why are we here?” Cole asked glancing around him, trying to fathom out how he got here.

“I don’t know Cole.”

“Well, how did you get here?” Cole asked Cherrie; suddenly realising she was more beautiful than he ever remembered. Her dark eyes captivated him.

“I vaguely remember closing my eyes and then waking up on a bench just a short distance away from here.  I saw the church steeple and decided to come and see what was here. To my surprise I saw you lying asleep here on this bench amongst these purple orchids.”

Cole followed the wave of her hand as she showed him the orchids growing everywhere around them.

“They appear to be growing wild in this garden, which I have never seen before.” Cherrie said following Cole’s gaze as his eyes surveyed the scene around them.

Cole looked back at Cherrie and said, “Where’s the church?”

“There behind you, just through that archway of flowers.”

“Shall we go and take a look?” Cole asked, standing up and offering Cherrie his hand.

She smiled and taking Cole’s hand she found herself feeling a little giddy as she stood up. Cole caught her in his arms and felt as though his breath had been sucked out of his body. She smelled like jasmine and her skin was so soft, he wanted to squeeze her against him and never let her go. Her smile wrapped itself around his heart and turned it upside down. He wanted to hold onto this moment and never let it go.
