Chapter 3: Survival Test! Will I Pass?

I smile as I wake before the alarm clock.  I spring out of my bed and take a quick shower.  I am so happy!  I've been ready since 3am!  In fact, I think this is one of the few times in my life that I am ready to be early than late! 

I double check everything, than triple check, and continue until I realize that it is 4:15am.  

Shoot!  I need to eat breakf-.

Should I eat breakfast?  I know I should listen to Kakashi-sensei but...I'm so hungry.

You know what?  If I eat breakfast then puke, the only person I blame is myself!  

As I grab my ninja gear, I take one last look around my tiny apartment.  There are only two rooms, the large room that triples as a bedroom, living room, and kitchen, while the other room is the bathroom.

I shove an apple in my pocket and decide to leave.  It normally takes me about 10 minutes to make it to the training grounds and no one is there...Wait.  What time did I leave again?  I look at the position of the sun and remember some basic survial tips.

It's only 4:20 am!?  How!?

I mean, I understand that I am excited and over killed on training ever since a certain incident that I personally don't want to talk about, but still!  How much have I improved since then?

I smile, I am getting stronger.  

After about ten minutes, I see a figure.  The first person there, Sakura, was surprised that I got there before her.  I simply laugh and tell her, "The early bird gets the worm!"

----5 hours later----

I think I regret that statement now.  I honestly am never going to listen to Kakashi-sensei again.  I smile bittersweetly.  I take the apple out of my pocket and rip it to shreds.  I hum to myself, that apple really hit the spot!

"Hey, Hotaru-san!  Sensei told us not to eat breakfast!" Sakura scolded me.

I shrug, "This isn't breakfast.  This is just a snack."

She facepalms, "Just don't expect me to help you after you puke your guts out." 

"I wasn't expecting you to..."  I mutter under my breath, but sadly she heard me.

"What was that?!" She balls her hand up into a fist.  

"Sakura-chan.  We are teammates.  Nakamas.  You don't purposely hurt your teammates, do you?"  I ask, trying to guilt trip her into not hurting me.  It didn't work.

"ITAI!!!!  What was that for?!"  I rubbed the top of my head.

"It's not my fault that you muttered under your breath!!!"  She shouted.  Goodness, does she have a voice!  She could probably shatter glass with vocal chords like that!

I glared at her and her at me.  Naruto was laughing nervously in the background while Sasuke was being a loner, again.  Then, I felt a familiar presence near me, was it Kakashi-sensei?  Suddenly a few moments later, the Jounin appears.

"Good morning everyone!" Kakashi annonced, startling everyone besides Sasuke and me. 

Sakura and Naruto aren't letting Kakashi off without an earfull about how late he was and they just complained to him.

He simply shrugs, "Well, a black cat crossed my path..."

Sakura interjected, "THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE!"

He simply ignored her and began to talk, "Let's move on."  We watched as he set a timer on a log.  

"It's set for noon.  Today's training is simple.  You have to get one of the bells from me."  Kakashi takes out three silver bells.
