Well, the weeks have gone by so fast, I can't believe I am six months pregnant, but I am! Owen told me that he would be back in an hour, he was going to the store to get some supplies. I called my mom yesterday to say hi, but she said she couldn't talk for some reason. I am currently at our apartment, trying to read a new novel. Something about kids with bird wings and a girl named Samantha, but I was too busy thinking about tomorrow! Tomorrow was the day grandma Ruth and Grandpa Mark came to visit, and my mother hasn't told them about my pregnancy.
I guess I have to break the news to them myself.
The phone rings, and my heart starts pounding. I know that number. It wasn't the hospital calling to set up a date for the ultrasound. I cleared my throat and answered, "Hello?". "Hello Misty!" a cheery old voice cried into the reciever. "Hi Grandma..." I said. Ruth was extreemly excited, she said that she heard about my new apartment, and that Owen and I were living together. But she did not mention hearing about the baby.
I was completely and utterly nervous about her coming over, she had always been strict, always told me that she did not support teen pregnancy. So it was natural for me to feel uneasy about this, right?
"Your grandpa and I will be coming over around four, and your mom said she will be coming with us" Grandma Ruth said before disconnecting the line. I grroaned, my living room was clean, but I really didn't want them coming over, my feet hurt and my stomach churned. And the baby keeps laying on my spine. It was natural not to enjoy this right?
Owen got home, kissed my head and put away the grocries. He gave me a glass of orange juice (which just happens to be my favorite juice.) and sat down with me. He rubbed my buldging belly, "I can feel it kick." he smiled. I nodded, "It hurts like crap, I assure you." . Not too long afterwards, the doorbell rang. Owen reluctantly got up looking at me every once and a while. He opened the door, and my mother rushed in. "Misty, I haven't told them about... you know..." she cried, and that made my life just so much easier. I pulled myself off the couch and stood behind Owen.
Grandma Ruth was the first to see. Her eyes twitched, and she looked like she was going to scream. Grandpa Mark was next in, but he simply smiled and pushed Ruth through the door.
Wonderful.
