9. First Stab

Dedicated to xXMopelXx for a great read: Trapped with an Arrogant Badass. Definitely something different and new. It was completely enjoyable and I couldn't stop reading once I started. “I didn’t know there were these here!” We were in the library. It’s been a couple days since we started dating and Daniel was visiting me at work. I showed him the astronomy section of the library and he was ecstatic. He put his arm around my shoulders. “Now I have more of an excuse to come here everyday.” He winked and kissed my temple.

“Yeah yeah. I’m pretty sure Miss Summers is tired of having you loiter here.”

Miss Summers was the head librarian. Let’s just say she wasn’t quite fond of Daniel coming here every day. He attracted quite the crowd and girls would fawn over him while he was here. We didn’t exactly announce to the world we were dating, but Daniel made sure to make it known to people who were clearly flirting with him that he was taken. That made me happy.

What always upsets me (just a bit) is how the girls would react to me by saying:

1. “aww!”

2. “What the hell?”

3. “She’s not even that hot.”

4. “You could do better, Danny.” or

5. “You could play around with me when she’s not looking.”

The last one always made me cringe and fight off the urge to smack her off the chair. I didn’t tell Daniel about my violent urges but I think he somehow knew and would always chuckle and push her away. I appreciated his understanding of me. It was like our minds were connected.

“Puh-lease. We all know Miss Summers loves me.” He caught her attention by waving and sent her a wink. She faked a gag. We both laughed and started talking more about the astronomy section.

“So there’s these books about northern constellations, and these are more about the southern ones, and there’s some encyclopedias too-”

“How do you know so much about this?”

“Uh, I work here?”

“But you don’t know so much about the other sections of the library.” What he said was true. I couldn’t just admit to him that I purposely researched this part of the library for his sake. That’s just embarrassing. “You didn’t do it for me did you?” And I’m caught in the act. I gave him a sheepish smile and looked down to hide my blush. He kissed my forehead and grabbed my cheeks to bring my face up and kiss my lips. “Thanks, Danielle.” He sent one of those heavenly smiles at me again, and I had trouble keeping my balance and composure. I was about to melt into a puddle of goo on the ground. We looked at the books for a while longer and he didn’t leave empty handed this time.

“They’re due next week, Mister Sanders!”

“I got it, Miss Summers. I wouldn’t let you down!” He winked at her again and she scoffed. Then he turned to me as we left the library, “She wants me.”

I laughed. “I’m sure of it. She’s got the hots for you for sure.” We both laughed together and walked away with a stack of astronomy books.

 

The next day at school.

“You guys are TOO cute. Oh my gosh.” Lexi was giggling and doll eyed while listening to my story. “So what, he walks to to and from work every day?”
