Warning: There is a BIT of sexual graphicness in this chapter. It's not smut or nudity but it's just some ideas that may be found offensive to some people. I didn't go into much detail and it's not that descriptive. I found it fine myself but if you're uncomfortable with that kind of stuff then please do go ahead and avoid it! The section is separated by **'s if you'd want to avoid it.

“Danielle?” My head snapped up quickly and I winced in pain. A familiar voice was calling out to me. Can it be?

It was him. He was alive. He was safe and alive.

I ran into his arms and he caught me in a hug. “Haha, Danielle. Did you miss me this much?” I nodded between sobs and he pulled me away from him. “Danielle? What’s wrong? Why are you crying? I’m here, aren’t I?”

“I thought- I thought you- there was a plane and it crashed and I thought you- you-” I sobbed into his chest and he rubbed my back reassuringly.

“Danielle, I was on the plane before it. We just got a bit delayed because of that unfortunate accident. I got here safe and sound, didn’t I? See?”

“I was so worried, I- I-”

He whispered gently into my ear, “I know, Danielle. I’m sorry. I’m here now. It’s okay.” He continued rubbing circled into my back with his thumb as I calmed down from my sobs.

Once I was calmed down, I pulled away and looked into his face. I put my hands to his cheek and felt every crevice, every wrinkle, every pore on his face, making sure he was real and alive. The warmth of his skin felt hot on my cold, trembling hands. He chuckled and let out hot breath onto my face. He brought his face down closer and kissed me. Time slowed down as I continued feeling his body, making sure everything was real and alive. Not breaking the kiss, I rubbed his back and arms. He let out a soft moan and I was thoroughly convinced that here, standing before me, was the real Daniel Sanders. I pulled back to catch my breath and he did the same.

“Are you convinced yet?” I nodded and he continued, “I’m back, Danielle.”

We spent the last hour or so talking in his room about what happened in New York. I called home earlier to let them know I was going to stay that night at Daniel’s to catch up with him. His dad gave him some tips to becoming an astronomer and gave him some contacts so he could make connections with the people who were working in that field. We were sitting on the bed talking when he suddenly stood up and walked over to his suitcase.

“Oh and here.” He tossed me a box. “It’s from Josh.”

“From Josh? You met Josh?” How did he find Josh? I thought he was in New York and Josh was in Amherst? “How?”

“Well…” He rubbed the back of his head and continued, “He gave me his number the last time you let us talk on the phone,” I nodded and he continued, “and I called him after we came back from the trip. He said he was on a business trip to a convention in New York. I told him I was going to New York and we arranged a date to meet up. We talked and he told me to give you this. He said he misses you.” I sensed disgust in his voice when he said that last statement but I didn’t mention it.

“Oh okay. I’ll call him later to thank him.” I opened the box. Inside was a gorgeous light pink dress that didn’t look cheap. I gasped in delight and Daniel coughed awkwardly.

“I don’t know why he had to go and buy you a dress … ” I know why. It was my birthday tomorrow. I didn’t tell Daniel because we never got to that in conversations. I never really celebrated my birthday anyway. It was just another day and I was another year older. “I mean isn’t this beyond a patient-doctor relationship? He’s just your doctor why’d he have to go buy you a dress?”
