5 years later....

"You're such a dick!" Juliet teased, as her boyfriend snuck a bite of her taco.

"I'm sorry! It just looked so delicious...but I bet I can make it up to you."

Jason grinned mischievously and grabbed Juliet's hand. They'd been dating for almost 2 years exactly and he had an anniversary surprise planned: if all went well, they'd be making out in first class on a plane to New York in less than a week.

"Juliet...I love you. And I want to make you happy. We've been dating for almost 2 years and I want to make our anniversary special, so here."

As Jason handed her the package, Juliet beamed and kissed him on the nose. Before she even opened the gift, her excitement was barely containable. She felt her breath getting shorter and her hands shook. Carefully, she picked at the ribbon until it came undone. Jason watched her dainty fingers methodically slide underneath the folds of the wrapping paper in order to release the tape without ripping it, as if doing so would be like ripping up money. Finally, she pulled the lid off of a small box to find 2 first class plane tickets to New York.

Juliet squealed and pulled Jason into a tight embrace. While she pressed her cheek onto his warm chest and felt his heartbeat, he rested his chin on her head and softly kissed her head. This really felt like pure love.

All I could hear was my own name, chanted over and over again by hundreds of fans. My fans.

"Cornelius! Cornelius! Cornelius! Cornelius!...."

I almost felt bad for my fellow actors, but I decided to allow myself to bask in my own ego for a while. After all, I'd worked so hard to get here, and so had Ryan.

Here I was, opening night of my biggest gig yet. New York: where dreams came true. I couldn't be more content with my life. As the lights dimmed and the audience settled down, I go into position and wait for my cue. This was it. This was what I'd always dreamed of.

After what seemed like hours of silence and anticipation, I finally heard those now iconic violins playing and took a deep breath. One by one, my coworkers and friends appeared on stage, singing the words to the greatest opening song of any musical ever. My queue approached until eventually I was asked my name. Here it came.

"Alexander Hamilton."

The spotlight shone on me and all those people screamed. I couldn't help but smile, but I don't think anyone minded.

"My name is Alexander Hamilton, and there's a million things I haven't done, but just you wait..."

I couldn't help but relate to my character. I was only getting started, and I was ready to change the world one musical at a time.
