'Natalie stood speechless staring between her dad and Trey for what seemed like forever.

Her dad blinked several times and looked down he got up a nervous laugh and said

"ah ha. Funny joke. Okay come on Natalie. Lets get you home." Trevor was grabbing at Natalie's bags and she helped him.

"With all do respect sir. I would just like to have a conversation with you. Man to man."

"Trey just let-"

"No it's okay baby girl. Alright Mr. Trey lets go talk. Natalie you stay here this will just take a moment."

Natalie's dad and Trey left the living room and immediately Natalie started pacing back and forth and talking to herself.

"What the hell just happened!"

"Ok so you're serious about me being your father?"

Trey twisted in his seat and took a shot of Hennessy.

"Yes sir. And I believe your ex wife is my mother."

Trevor stared at him and then his eyes filled with tears he quickly looked away.

"It's true isnt it?"

All he did was shake his head.

Trey jumped up from his bar stool.

"How could you do that!? How could you leave me! My mother had to do this alone! What kind of a man-"

Trevor stood up.

"Son. Son calm down." He said trying to restrain him

Trey began to cry.

"No man. Fuck you. You aint shit. Natalie deserves better than you. Theres only one thing I want to know."

Trevor waited.

"Who's my real mother?"

"The woman you were raised by is your mother."

Trey closed his eyes and wiped his tears.

"And Natalie?"

"Natalie is... adopted."

"What the f- bro are you serious?! How could you not tell her."

"I planned on telling her when she came back home. Her mother and I have been arguing about it since she was adopted."

Trey glared at him and then sat back down on the bar stool.

"We adopted Natalie when she was only 9 months old. She has been ours ever since and her mother wanted to tell her as soon as she was old enough to understand. I just couldn't shake the feeling that when she found out her "daddy" wouldn't sound the same anymore." Trevor took another shot and slid the glass over to the bartender signaling him to pour another.

"so where are her real parents?"

"um. her mother... is .. closer than you think."

Trey stared at him for what seemed like forever. He blinked rapidly and then blinked his lips.

"we share-..."

"yes. you share the same mom and dad."

"ok wait wait .. what!? how is that possible? you just told me she was adopted by you at 9 months. "

"yes. your mother and I were together at one point when we had you and then we split up we caught back up with eachother later in life. I never knew about Natalie until I remarried and found out my wife could not have children. it was just a miracle that we ended up adopting a child that was already mine."

"But why would mom give her up and keep me?"

"At the time Natalie was born you were 13 years old. I'm sure your mother has her reasons but I think she thought nobody would adopt a preteen."

The pair sat in silence for a moment with the only sounds exchanged were the picking up and setting back down of their shot glasses.

"So Natalie is my sister."

"yes."

Trey let his head drop down and make a thud on the counter.

"what is it?"

"....She loves me."

"oh yeah she has a crush but once we tell-"

"No. I mean she really loves me."

"well that is too bad. first off you're a grown ass man and secondly her brother."

"but .. I love her too."
