We just stood there, frozen in disbelief. None of us could wrap our heads around what he was saying. It wasn't him. It just couldn't have been.

Bobby cleared his throat, breaking the eerie silence. "Well... all right then." He knelt down, throwing a skeptical glance our way. "Is this good, or... you want the whole 'forehead to the carpet' thing?" He gestured at the rest of us. "Guys?"

The four of us started to kneel alongside Bobby.

"Stop," Cass interrupted, his voice cutting through the heavy tension. "What's the point if you don't mean it? You fear me. Not love, not respect, just fear."

Sam sighed, shaking his head. "Cass..."

Cass looked at him. "Sam, you have nothing to say to me. You stabbed me in the back." His eyes scanned the rest of us with a mix of disappointment and frustration. "Get up." We exchanged uncertain glances, unsure what to do, but slowly stood back up.

"Cass, come on, this isn't you," Dean pleaded.

"The Castiel you knew is gone," Cass said.

"So, what, then? Kill us?" Dean's voice wavered with a mix of defiance and fear.

Cass shook his head, his eyes locking onto Dean's. "What a brave little ant you are. You know you're powerless. You wouldn't dare move against me again. That would be pointless. So, I have no need to kill you. Not now. Besides... once you were my favorite pets before you turned and bit me."

"Who are you?" Dean asked.

"I'm God. And if you stay in your place, you may live in my kingdom. If you rise up, I will strike you down." Cass turned to Sam, who was pale and unsteady. "Not doing so well, are you, Sam?"

"I'm fine..." Sam cleared his throat. "I'm... fine."

"You said you would fix him... you promised!" Dean shouted, frustration in his voice.

"If... you stood down, which you hardly did." Cass nodded. "Be thankful for my mercy. I could have Cast you back into the pit." He stared at Sam.

"Cass, come on, this is nuts," Dean pleaded. "You can turn this around, please!"

"I hope for your sake, this is the last you see me," Cass said, then vanished.

Sam grunted lightly, and his nose started to bleed.

"Sam, you okay?" Dean asked.

Sam's eyes rolled back, and he fell to the ground on his hands and knees, right into shards of glass on the floor. My heart pounded through my chest, and I began to hyperventilate, but I pushed my fear back. I immediately ran over to him.

"Sam?" I put my hand on his back and knelt next to him.

He rolled over to his side as Dean and the others rushed to us. His eyes looked distant, and blood continued to trickle from his nose. A large piece of glass was embedded in his palm, and he groaned as he started to convulse.

"Sammy!" Dean put his hand on his chest, trying to steady him by the broken glass.

I took my knife out, cut a slit into the bottom of my shirt, and ripped a strip out of it. I grabbed Sam's hand, pulled the glass out, and wrapped his hand with the fabric. He continued to convulse, and I felt myself drifting into a panic. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I shook it off as best as I could.

"Sam...?" I asked calmly. I shifted so my legs were around him, and his head rested in my lap to prevent him from hitting it on the floor. I stroked his hair, saying, "Sammy? Shh... You're gonna be alright." Tears streamed down my cheeks as I tried to calm him down. "Come back to us, okay?" Finally, Sam slowly started to settle down. He looked up at me for a moment and then closed his eyes. "Okay, let's get him out of here quickly." I grunted as I lifted his dead weight so he was sitting up.
