Two: Lost in the Street
Hanari's P.O.V
I'm almost done with my shoes when grandma popped out of nowhere.
"You should cover your red eyes. People might think you're ready to murder someone."
"Yah grandma! Stop being rude," I said as I combed my bangs trying to cover my eyes. I also tied my hair into a high ponytail.
"Wear this."
She handed me a weird nerdy glasses. Urgh. Is it really necessary?
"And I want you to take this flower seedlings to my friend's house, understand?"
"Eh?! But it's on the other side of the town. I will be late!" I complained. Well, my grandma has a friend whose flowers are his obsession. No wonder they are friends.
"So what are you still doing here? Run along now."
"Hmp!" I flipped my long hair which I just dyed aqua white. I let Ruru sit in the opening of my bag and started out for school.
As I was going down the stairs, I met Mr. Henri, our helper in the shrine who lives in this mountain.
"Good morning, Mistress Hanari," he waved.
I wave back. "Ohayougozaimasu!"
As I was already at the town proper, I checked the time and it's still 6:05 am. I decided to walk my way through grandma's friend to save energy.
The house is at the foot of another mountain to which the Mikage Shrine is located, I remember. I never really met grandma's friend in person. So I was surprised when a man (more more younger than my grandma) welcomed me and introduced himself as grandma's friend.
I handed him the seedlings.
"Thank you very much, Hanari-chan."
I looked at him and saw his soft expression, something that will calm you down the moment you see it.
He has shoulder length blonde hair. He wore circular spectacles and he is holding a tea cup.
"Your grandmother is a big help in my garden," he smiled.
"I must be going now. It's nice meeting you," I bowed.
I froze when he shoved my bangs as I lifted my head.
"You got your mother's eyes. You should not hide it."
"He...heh-Arigatou." I smiled uncertainly. I feel uneasy when he mentioned my mother, because it's my first time hearing about her these past years.
* * * *
Hmmm... Where is the way again? Left? Right? Err... I think I'm lost. AGAIN. *facepalm*
"Ehem. But I really think we should go this way."
I pointed at the left. Then Ruru crawled down and started running in the opposite direction.
"Ruru! Matte!"
I grabbed her and carried her across my chest.
"Meow."
There's a girl and a boy walking to our direction so I immediately hide behind a post. Just as they passed by, I noticed the girl is wearing the same uniform as mine.
"Right, Ruru. We should just follow them until we reach the school," I chuckled.
"Meow."
Suddenly the boy stopped so as the girl. I quickly turned my back and pretend to look at the glass wall of a nearby store.
"Lady Nanami. I think I heard a cat."
"Er so what? Haha don't tell me youre afraid of cats."
They began to walk again as the girl started laughing. The next minute they began to insult each other. Sigh. I wonder what the man's problem with cats. I pat Ruru's head.
"Meow."
They made two more turns in the street until I stopped.
THEY'RE GONE. <(>O<)>
"Omo~ Where did they go?"
I feel the wind blew and then with a force I was pushed against a wall. I blinked and adjusted the glasses grandma gave me.
I look up to see who is it. My gaze met an angry-looking man with white hair who is looking intently straight to my eyes. My heart raced and I feel like naked with his look.
"What are your intentions with Lady Nanami?" He hissed.
"Lady who? I don't know what youre talking about!!"
He squeezed my shoulders. Ouch! I can feel his sharp nails.
"You've been following us!"
I tried kicking my feet which is above the ground. I struggled against this man's grip as I deny it.
"No. I'm not!! Let me go. I'm gonna be late for school!"
He looked to me up and down. What the hell is he doing?! *blush* Pervert!
Then by the looks on his face, he must've realized that I'm wearing the uniform as the girl he is with.
"Getting lost are we, little human?" His expression turned dark and he's wearing an evil smile which creeps me out.
First, I'm late because I lost the way to school. Second, there's this man who is accusing me as a stalker. So I've got one thing left to do.
I held a deep breath and let out an ear-piercing scream,
"AAAHHHHHH!!!! DON'T TOUCH ME, PERVERT!!!"
He let go of me instantly and raised his eyebrows.
"I would never be over your undesirable body."
Undesirable?!!
"Yah! Stop being arrogant! As if someone would be head-over-heels over you?" I throw my bag straight to his face so I could escape from whoever-he-is.
"Baka! Baka! Baka! Behh~" I stick my tongue out.
"You feisty weirdo human!"
"Stupid!"
He is ready to grab me but froze when Ruru appeared from my back and crawled to his hand.
"Meow."
"Get this pest off me!!"
"WAHAHAHAHAH!!"
I laughed as he tried to shake away Ruru. I grabbed my bag and stuck my tongue out again,
"Behh~ Suits you right."
I flipped my hair as I turned and ran towards the school. My feet automatically moved as if I suddenly remembered the right direction.
*Outside the high school building*
Sigh. I guess we are to early for the afternoon class. Curse that man!
