"Guys, we're ho- oh, did we interrupt something?" I said as we walked into the house to see Nattie and Tyler on the couch making out.
They immediately separated, blushing. "Uh, wh-what are you guys doing home so early?" Nattie stuttered.
"The rain ruined our plans, but looks like you guys were doing just fine," Josh said.
"Uh, yeah, we weren't expecting you guys back until later, because Chloe's surprises aren't here yet," Tyler said.
"Surprises?" I asked.
"You'll see," Nattie said with a smirk.
My face turned confused. "Right, so, you two can go back what you were doing, and we'll be upstairs enjoying whatever alone time we can before my 'surprise' gets here," I said on my way up the stairs with Josh right behind me.
I went straight to Josh and I's room and collapsed on the bed with a sigh. "So, Nat and Ty. Did not see that coming," I said.
Josh laid down next to me. "Yeah, me either."
"Well, as long as it makes Nattie happy, I'm ok with it."
"Same. I haven't seen Ty that happy around a girl since him and Jenna got their divorce."
"I know, me either. And I haven't seen Nattie with another boy since Joey left her."
"They're a perfect match, huh?"
"Yeah, they are."
As I said that, there was a knock on the door. "Come on in!" I called.
Then came my surprise. Instead of Nattie or Tyler at the door, we saw my other two BFFs, and honestly my friends Josh likes the best other than Nattie, Eliza (we call her Liz) and Brittany. We hadn't seen them in about 6 months, since they still lived in California. "OMG, Liz, Brit, what are you guys doing here?!" I asked.
"Ty and Nat helped Josh fly us out! Happy Anniversary!" Liz said.
I spun around. "Josh, you did this for me?"
He smiled awkwardly. "Happy Anniversary?"
I rushed toward him and almost tackled him in a hug. "You're the best boyfriend ever, you know that right?"
"Thanks. You're the best girlfriend ever."
I smiled. "Thanks."
We hugged for a little while before I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I turned around and saw Liz and Brittany giving us weird looks. "What?! You guys have lovie-dovie moments with Robbie and Bryan all the time. I don't give awkward looks or anything," I said.
"Ok, ok, she does have a point," Brittany said.
"Speaking of Robbie and Bryan, they're downstairs," Liz said.
"Really? Let's go," I said.
I rushed downstairs and found Liz's boyfriend Bryan (who also happens to be Brittany's younger brother) and Brittany's boyfriend Robbie in the living room. "Robbie, Bryan, it's been forever! Hi!" I said.
"Hey Chloe! Happy anniversary!" Robbie said.
"Yeah, happy anniversary Chloe!" Bryan said.
"Thanks guys. So, our dinner tonight just turned into a quadruple date, huh Nat?" I asked.
Nattie blushed. "Yeah, I guess. I blame you Chloe."
"Actually, I blame Tyler," I said.
"Hey, she kissed me!" Tyler said in defense.
"Ooo, Nattie! Finally! It's been a year or so, huh?" Brittany asked.
"Shut up Brit," Nattie said, giving her the evil eye.
We all laughed, then just talked about what Liz, Brittany, Robbie, and Bryan were up to back in California. "So boys, I heard you guys are teaching at Moore now," I said.
"Yeah. It's kinda weird though, because we're the youngest people on the staff. Did you know that Ms. Delphoria and Mrs. Marsch still work there?" Robbie said.
"Really? After all these years? They must be in their sixties by now," I said.
"Yeah, they are. It's really funny because they were our teachers back when we were in middle school, and now we're their co-workers," Bryan said.
"See, that would just be weird for me," Nattie said.
"Advantages of not being a teacher in your hometown. All my co-workers are from here," I said, "It's not awkward."
"Well, anyway, the marching band is as good as ever," Robbie said.
"Yeah, we come and help out. It's fun, really. I'm actually the new drum instructor," Liz said.
"That's cool. I remember when A.J. was our drum instructor," I said.
"Me too, but it's funny that a flute player is the drum instructor," Brittany said.
"Oh yeah, and what are you?" Nattie said.
"I'm assistant director, actually," Brittany said braggingly.
"Nice job, you get a gold star," Liz said sarcastically.
"Hey, that was Mrs. Marsch 's decision, not mine. We both applied," Brittany replied.
"Ok you two, stop. This was a good day, don't ruin it," I said.
"Fine, we won't," Liz and Brittany said at the same time.
So for the next, like, three hours, we talked about life and me being a music teacher and Nattie's pizza delivery career and Brittany and Liz's YouTuber careers and the boys' teaching careers. But eventually, we had to go to dinner, so we piled in cars and took off toward Red Robin. What would happen next would be the surprise of a lifetime for me, and a moment I'll never forget.
