Chapter 10.
The next couple of days went by quick. I spent my second weekend in London at home studying even though Perrie begged me to join them at a party. Since I had homework to do, and I’m really not a party-goer, I chose to stay at home. I really didn't think uni. would be as hard as it is. Since school here was so different from the school back home, the counselor said I could try out some courses for two weeks to see what I want to study, I’ve started to regret my decision to say yes instead of just choosing music, since that’s what I want to study. Finally Wednesday came around, which meant a short day and lunch with Sarah.
“So when does the show start on Friday? I wanna get good seats! By the way, is it okay if Megan comes with me? She really wanna hear you sing. She can't seem to shut up about it since I told her you were performing," Sarah laughed fondly as soon as I reached my locker before first class.
"I don't know actually, I'll have too look that up. And of course not! The more the merrier or something like that." I said, my brain still working a bit slow since it was still early.
"She really likes you, you know. I'm glad," Sarah said with a fond smile as she turned to look at me.
"I like her too, she's cool. Does she always get like this by meeting your friends from school?" I ask curiously.
"Well, actually, you're the first person she meets, since I don't have a lot of friends."
A frown took over my facial expression as I still couldn't figure out why she couldn't make friends earlier. Her being gay doesn't make her less of a person.
"What about Niall?"
"Oh, I met Niall through her so yeah," Sarah said with a small laugh though her eyes still looked sad.
"Well... If she's coming this Friday she'll meet Zayn, Liam and the girls so she'll meet more of your friends!" I said putting a smile on her face again.
"You're right! That's true! Well, I gotta go to class now, see you at lunch."
Class was boring and we didn’t do much. Liam wasn’t at school today so he couldn’t entertain me witch left me alone beside an empty desk. That’s no fun. Lucky me next hour was free period for me, as always on Wednesdays, then only music before lunch with Sarah. Well, music is the last class of the day, but I promised Sarah to eat with her since I barely met her yesterday. Only a couple of minutes left in this boring classroom. As soon as the teacher let us go, all the students got up to get out of the classroom as soon as possible. Since I have a free hour I took my time to gather my stuff before leaving the classroom. The hallway was almost empty when I left, making my way to my locker.
I pulled out the pack of cigarettes from my bag while leaning against the stone wall around the parking lot and opened it to see that there were only three left. I made a mental reminder to buy more soon. With a cigarette between my lips I pulled out a lighter and lit it. My lungs were so used to the smoke that I didn't feel the burn anymore. All I could feel was the peace slowly creeping through my body.
"You know, smoking is bad for you," a husky voice said from behind. I slowly turned around to be greeted by the most gorgeous green eyes I will ever lay my eyes on.
"I know," I said letting out a sigh. I knew how bad it was, my mother was a doctor after all. But she couldn't say anything as she took the alcohol as a help before. Now she haven't laid her hands on alcohol in almost a year and I'm so proud of her. I, one the other hand, took the cigarettes as my help. I started when it was at its worst at home, and when things happened with my boyfriend and at my old school they were the only thing I could turn to. "I know, but they help me too much for me to stop." I said again taking a deep breath with my lips around the cigarette.
