Nightmares From A Call

Not even two days after I've arrived in Hollywood we are filming. Lucky I read my part even before I knew I had the part. Everyone I'm working with is pretty chill. I do feel a little like an outcast since I am the youngest (but Julia said I am 20) while everyone one else is at least three years older than me.

We flew up to Colorado for the next few weeks so we can us the natural snow and the mountains for the section where Alina and Mel are on the run in the snow.

It's about thirty or so degrees outside right now and everyone is in big poofy coats. Then there is me, only in a plain tee and some leggings while we go over the set. So many people called me crazy for not freezing but you see, I grow up in a place that is below freezing more than half the year. This is nothing.

"Everyone to makeup and costume." The director yells out over us. We all scurry to our trailers to get out of the cold.

Every minute felt like an hour while I sat still in the makeup chair in my trailer. In the music video I only had one girl working on my face and hair but with Hollywood, everything is bigger so I have four or five people rushing around me. Once my hair and makeup are done it's costume time and with that five more people are buzzing around me.

The camera men, sound man, scripted reader, other cast members, and the director stand under a canopy with heat lamps while myself and Bob Morley, the guy that plays Mel, are out in the snow. When we cut for the Darkling to come out into the snow, he finally came out of his trailer. His black hair was slicked back and his extra fluffy black robe looked soft and cosy.

As the day goes by we filmed the same scenes over again to make sure we have the right angles and all that movie bullshit. The best part of the day is right now because I'm finally out of the snow. This set is the Darkling's tent and everyone in the cast that is important is in here.

My phone starts ringing in the middle of filming. I quickly apologise for the interruption and slide the phone out of my boot. Looking at the screen, Tanner's lovely face pops on the screen. I sadly ignore the call and hand it Julia who stuck her hand out for it.

The scene goes on for ten more minutes when Julia walks up to the director with a phone in hand.

"Cut!" He yells over the scene as Julia runs up to me with the phone, my phone. She hands it to me. Tanner's calling? I raise an eyebrow at her but she motions for me to listen. I slowly put the phone up next to my ear.

"Babe, I'm in the middle of a scene," I say into the phone but I got no reply. "Hello?"

"Oh.. Carter? Is that you sweetly?"

"Mrs Fox? Why do you have Tanner's phone."

"Ta... Tanner was in a car actedent." She's breathing heavy and talking very loud. "The car went off a cliff and landed upside down."

My hands start to shake and tears stream down my face. "I'll be right there." Is all I said before I drop my phone on the floor.

All of the cast was staring at me as I just stood there, shaking. The room was so quiet, they must have heard the other line.

Julia grabbed one of my shoulders, "Is everything okay?" She asked sweetly.

"No. Not at all." I say just over a whisper then walked off with Julia following behind me. "Get me a flight straight to San Diego."

My head was going a thousand miles an hour with all the possibilities of what happened, how it happened, and mostly is Tanner okay? The airport, the flight, the Uber drive to the hospital, all a blur.

My feet felt like they didn't even touch the ground as I ran passed Tanner's mum and into his room. He was hooked up to all different machines and was being prepped for surgery. That's when I lost it.

I cry into the hug with Tanner's mum as we watch his bed pushed down the hallway and out of sight

I cry into the hug with Tanner's mum as we watch his bed pushed down the hallway and out of sight. I can't lose him. I... I... I can't.

We wait for hours and hours for him to come back through the doors. He's asleep when we can see him. Mrs Fox left to talk with the doctor while I stay behind next to Tanner.

Grabbing his hand, I bring it up to my lips and press a soft kiss to it. He looks over to me with a small smile stretched on his lips. "God damn Tanner, I leave you for four days and you go and drive off a cliff," I say with tears streaming down my red cheeks.

"I was missing you, though." His smile gets bigger.

"Yeah, yeah." I lean over him and plant a soft kiss on his chapped lips. As I pull way, I whisper, "I love you too much to lose you."
