I took a deep breath as my brother and I walked upto my new highschool in Sydney, Australia. My brother just turned 18 and is a senior, and I'm 15 and a sophomore. It's early October which would normally be fall, back in the states, but is strangely enough spring here down under.

My mom and dad just recently split up, and did not end on any good terms, whatsoever. My mom decided she never wanted anything to do with him, and wanted to move on the complete other side of the world. My mom won full-custody over my brother, Destin and I, and we are forced to move with her. She found a college that Destin said he would possibly consider once he's graduated, and mom found a job that was perfect for her here down and Sydney, and by the end of the week we were on the 20 hour flight across the world.

The very first thing I've noticed about Australia, other than the obvious foriegn accents, was the opposite climate change. We moved here about mid-September, which is the end of summer back in Kentucky, and it was the end of winter here. It's so different, and I haven't decided if I'm going to like it here or not.

"Miami, we need to find the office." Destin told me as we walked through the doors.

I know what you're thinking. That my parents are cheesy. My name is Miami, and my brother is Destin, both major cities in Flordia. My mom chose our first names, and our father chose our middle names. My mom was born and raised in Flordia, and she aboslutely loved it. She only moved to Kentucky to be with my father.

After several minutes of Destin and I getting lost and recieving weird looks from students, we finally stumbled across a wooden door with a metal sign reading 'OFFICE'. We made our way inside to be greeted by the head secretary.

"Me and my brother just moved here. Today is our first day..." I nervously spoke.

"May I have your names?" She asked while typing something on her computer, not making eye contact with either of us.

"I'm Miami Thompson, and he's Destin Thompson."

She nodded and took two packets of paper from her second drawer.

"Miami Renée Thompson?" She asked. I nodded and she handed me one of the packets. "Destin Aaron Thompson?" She asked to my brother, who repsonded the same and got his packet.

"The first page is your daily schedule. This is the middle of the first semester. Make your way to first period, you have already missed homeroom. On the second page is a school map. It's to help you find your way to your classes." She spoke. Aaron and I nodded and made our way to the hallway.

"Any chance we have any classes together?" I asked while biting my lip nervously.

"Maybe, let's see." He replied while scanning his schedule with his light blue eyes. He quickly looked up at me. "You seem nervous."

"I am. I'm scared I'm gonna hate it. I'm really nervous." I replied.

"I'm not." He shrugged, then picked up my schedule to compare classes.

"Of course you're not. You're a senior. You're at the top of the food chain. I'm in the middle." I groaned.

"Relax, sis. It can't be that bad." I took a deep breathe trying to calm my nerves. It worked a little, but just barely.

"Any classes together?" I finally asked after a long pause. He shook his head no, and handed me back my schedule. I groaned and looked over my schedule myself.

My schedule was:

- Arts & Crafts

- English 10

*Lunch*

- Algebra 2

- Biology

- Physical Education
