Marie's Pov
"Mother can I have something to drink", my seven year old self said.
She smiled," Yes you may my gummy bear", handing me my sippie cup.
I giggled at the name and asked,"
When is daddy coming home?", then gurgling some of the juice in my mouth.
My mother's smile soon turned upside down and then sighed," Honey you know daddy works late at the Office", looking down at my tiny figure.
I then realised that when I asked my mother would never smile about this situation, " Mum it will be okay. It's not like he left us right?", I half asked with a grin.
My mother smiled and sighed happily saying," My sweet baby girl. Would it be okay if mommy had another sweet baby girl or boy to make daddy happy again ?", rubbing my head.
I squealed and asked," Mommy's having a baby soon?", with the biggest and cutest smile I could muster.
" Yes baby girl soon you will have a baby sister or brother who you will look after right ?", mother said with a stern voice playfully.
"Yes mother I will protect them with my heart and my baby toughness", I said pointing towards my arm with the "baby toughness" part.
She chuckled and leaned down towards my level and whispered," Good girl but hey don't te-", but she was cut off by my father's rather loud voice.
"What's going on here ", his big voice boomed, I flinched, his voice always scared me.
My mother suddenly stood up straight, looked at him, but not in the eye and said," Nothing dear I was just-", but was cut off once again by my father.
" Go to bed Marie and don't come out until I tell you to. Go!!", he said suddenly angry.
I wimpired and sulked my way up stairs without a word, but stopped when I heard mother crie out.
"Stop you got what you wanted. Please leave me alone.", Her voice begged then I heard it. Smack. He had hit her.
I held my face, feeling my mother's pain, and ran even further up the stairs into my room.
I cried for what seems like hours and grabbed my teddy bear laying down.
And fell asleep thinking of the days my father was a happy man.
