Zaynah Chantelle Payne's POV

*beep beep*
That's my cue. I said goodbye to my mother and Zayrah as I went out. "Hop in! Quick! We gotta be there at seven!" I looked at my watch and saw it's already 5:45. I quickly hopped in and Cadence started driving.

I was wearing a blue dress with holes in the shoulder part. What do you call those type of dresses?

"Iiih! I get to see Samuel again! Iiiiiih!" she said excitedly. Speaking of the devil...

One new message from Samuel Wade Andrews // Sam
Good luck. But I'll still beat you. Your song is fvcking lame. And also you sing with no clarity.
5:47 am

I rolled my eyes. At the same time, I'm hurt. Is my song really that bad? Is my singing really that bad?

"Hey, what's wrong?" Cadence asked me as I fake smiled and shook my head. "Oh c'mon. I know there's something wrong. What is it?"

"Our dog died," I lied.

"You have zero dogs Payne," she said while stepping on the brakes. "What's wrong?"

"Fine. You know me too well. Someone underestimates me and my singing skills."

"Don't mind him," she said with her assuring smile. "Who's this someone? Let's wrestle him."

I smiled. She's right. I'm so thankful to have a friend like her. "Anonymous."

She pouted. "How's Zayrah by the way?"

"Still singing Let It Go."

"What's new? Hays." she said. "Tell her I miss her."

"Candidates, please line up and pick a paper from the box," the principal said as we all took a paper

"Candidates, please line up and pick a paper from the box," the principal said as we all took a paper. The paper read '2'.

"Please fall in line by order. That number is your turn in the singing contest. Please sit down at the backstage quietly. Thank you."

We all went to the backstage and if the day could get worse, Sam's the first one to sing so he's right beside me.

"Your skills in singing is really good that everyone will want to vomit," Sam said but I didn't mind him. Ugh.
