"What?" I half yelled. "You can't just allow a stranger girl to live with us."
"You heard me, Jace. And she isn't a stranger, you two were good friends."
"Yeah, when we were like 5!"
"Oh, suck it up." Said Alec from beside me, why was he taking her side? "It's just Clary."
"Fine, but it's not my fault if you regret this."
"I won't." Maryse stated firmly.
I left the room. Clary Fairchild -the biggest freaking player known in the shadoworld- is coming to live in the institute. We actually used to be best friends. I would pull her hair and call her Red all the time, she'd swat me away, sticking out her tongue and calling me Goldie Locks. That was when she was actually a good girl, she'd draw beautiful and unbelievable things and refused to sit in the grass, prone to never hurting a living thing. Then we turned 15 and she went boy crazy, her mom moved her to Idris to start up more advanced training at Shadowhunter Academy. I hadn't seen her since then, but damn I hear a lot about her. Her endless stream of boyfriends and how she saved everyone in The Cold War- blah blah blah- she's a hero...which I don't believe.
"What are you sulking about?" Izzy said, randomly appearing out of a room in the corridor.
"Clary."
She paused a few feet away from me. "Fairchild?"
"Nah, The freakin fairy. Yes, Fairchild."
"What about her?" Isabelle and Clary were kind of friends too, they'd giggle about stuff they'd never let me hear and they'd say hi to each other when she came over to train with me.
"Go ask Alec, actually don't. Magnus is coming over and-" I cut myself off, making sure I didn't give a speech. "She's going to stay with us for a while apparently."
She didn't seem stunned at all. "I know. I just got off the phone with her actually, she's on her way and will be here late tonight. I need you to let her in."
"Any Shadowhunter can get in, Iz."
"I know, but that's no way to treat a guest."
"Why do I have to let her in?"
"I'm going out. I would stay in but it's been on the calendar for a while, Simon's performing a new song he wrote at Java."
"And why can't Alec do it?" And, like always, he appeared to.
"I'm not your bitch." He said. Then went into the training room, most likely to help Max with the flips he can never quite get right.
"You know what Alec plus Magnus being here equals to. Mom and dad are flying back, too... so one will be here."
"But Max-"
"Max doesn't count, and you can't drag him into it." She ordered, pointing a perfectly polished finger at me. "Just make sure she gets in okay and show her to her room."
"Which one is she staying in?" I mumbled, running a hand through my hair.
"The one across from you."
