Thorin

I gripped a fistful of hair, cursed, and continued to pace the room. Dominic, what are the chances he'd be here of all places? Growling, my rage growing, I resisted the urge to smash everything in this room. "And what's stopping you? Maybe, just maybe you don't want to upset your mate by destroying his things."

Mortem spoke, and I could feel my anger burning hotter. "He is not my mate, and I could care less is he is 'upset' or not. As soon as I'm able to, I am leaving and I am never coming back."

I shot back, nostrils flaring. "If you want to leave so badly, why not go now? Why stick around?" He questioned, "Unless, you truly do feel something for your mate." I scoffed, folding my arms over my chest.

"You heard what he said, if I even attempt to leave his pack will stop me and bring me back to him." "You could escape, if you really wanted to. You stay because deep down, you know you want him."

I slammed my fists into the wall, "And how do you suggest I make my escape, kill them?" I seethed, "Have you not shed enough blood?" Mortem didn't answer. "That's what I thought." I walked over to the chair alongside the bed, Ivan's scent still clung to it heavily.

That is where he sat, waiting for you to wake up. Worrying about you. My eyes screwed shut as I tried to push the words from my head, but they fought hard and seemed lodged in my brain. He was worried about you, he cares about you.

At last I managed to banish the voice from my mind. It doesn't matter if he cares, I don't. I am not going to be someone's mate. I shed my clothes down to my pants and a light shirt, throwing the discarded clothes onto the chair before slipping into bed.

Fatigue settled over my body like a warm blanket, slowly sapping the last of my energy until it was a physical struggle to keep my eyes open. Before sleep drug my under, I gave a silent prayer that my sleep would be a dreamless one.

But then again, when has life ever been that easy? Before I knew it I was thrown back into the past, and was reliving every memory in such perfect detail it felt as real as when it happened. The pack was whispering about me. I couldn't hear what they were saying exactly, but I didn't need to, the expression on their faces said it all. I simply walked passed them, speeding back home so I could escape their probing stares. It has been like this for weeks now, ever since the ceremony and I failed to shift.

"Hey Thorin!" A boy called, recognizing his voice, I cringed and quickened my pace. I could hear his footsteps growing closer, followed by two others. "Thorin!" Jackson called again, right behind me this time. He grabbed me by the arm, yanking me back. I stumbled, crashing into him.

He shoved me off, I nearly landed on my ass but managed to catch myself last minute. I looked up at Jackson, a playful, sinister smirk present on his face. His short brown hair a mess, and bright green eyes shining. "Couldn't shift, eh? I guess you aren't alpha material after all."

He laughed, as did his two buddies, Maddox and Taylor, who stood behind him. "Just leave me alone." I said, trying to leave again. Taylor and Maddox were soon standing infront of me, blocking off my exits. "Why you wanna leave so soon, Thorin? Does it hurt to hear the truth?" I could feel my eyes begin to sting.

"Please, just leave me alone." Jackson chuckled softly, "You know, your dad is probably relieved you didn't shift." My eyebrows furrowed. "Now he can give the alpha title to your brother without hurting your feelings."
