My Ex-Best Friend

Chapter 2

"A friendship that ends, never really started."

Fourth-period had just ended and I had went and met up with Julie before heading to the cafeteria.

When I told her in line about this morning she begin to ramble on and on about how Lawrence was a jerk and needed to get off planet earth all the way until we got to our table.

She then took a deep breath and exhaled. "Sorry for rambling. It's just that why does he always pick on you? It just doesn't make any sense."

"Tell me about. Out of every kid here he bothers me the most."

"Is it still because of what you did to him on the first day of school?"

I sighed. "I don't even no anymore."

"Well we have got to do something about him and pronto" she stated as she begin to eat her salad.

"You got any ideas or plans to get rid of him? I'm all ears." I took a bite out of my cheeseburger as she thought hardly.

"Well...how about we...I mean we could...no no no...mmm...well I've totally got no idea what to do."

"Same here."

I continued to eat while she thought harder before gasping and yelling "I've got it!" which got some people to look our way.

"Got what? Did you think of something?"

"Yes I did", she said proudly, "How about we make a deal with the devil?"

I coughed on my saliva for a split second before I actually caught my breath. "Are you insane?! I am not making a deal with the devil!"

"Just here me out, Al! You can make a deal with him and in exchange he will stop messing with you! Then you can come to school and not have to worry about him anymore!"

She was smiling like she'd thought of the best plan ever while I had my mouth open wide in disbelief.

"No way am I doing that. Do you know what he'll ask for?!"

"No...what?"

"I don't know and I sure as hell don't wanna find out!"

"C'mon Al! We don't even know what he'll ask for! It might not even be that bad! Weren't you guys once best friends? I'm sure he won't ask you to do anything repulsive."

"Yeah, well, now we're ex-best friends and he's changed into a whole different person. So...yeah, I think he would make me do something totally repulsive."

She sighed and began to poke at her salad. "I just want you to have a non-torture day at school Al. So even if it means making a deal with Lawrence Conway you should still do it. Please."

With a few groans I agreed to think about it and she squealed in delight and happily began to eat her food again.

While she did I thought about how in the hell was I going to make a deal with Lawrence Conway, the guy who can have anything he desires.

Ugh. Why did I even agree to think about this?! I should've just said no way but its to late to turn back now.

Lunch ended rather fast and Julie went off to her class but not before telling me once again to make a deal with Lawrence again.

In fifth-period I thought about what he'd ask for in return and all that came to my mind were dirty thoughts.

I shivered in complete revulsion and tried to focus on Ms.Graham's lesson she was teaching.

"Okay class we will be working on a phases of the moon project in class. You'll be assigned a partner which I will choose."

Everyone groaned and Ms.Graham told everyone to stop complaining. I myself even grumbled a little because I abhor when teachers assign partners cause you either get the stupid ones or the want-you-to-do-all-the-work ones.

She grabbed her clipboard and began to read off names and as she did people got up and went over to there partners and some groaning as they did.

I waited for her to say who my partner was and when she did I completely went into shock mode.

Not only was this teacher idiotic to assign him to be my partner but she was out of her mind if she thought I was going to work with him!

I shot my hand up quickly and asked "Are we allowed to switch partners?"

"No you are not, Ms.Johnson. Now please everyone get in your assigned groups so that I may go over the procedures."

Seeing as though he wasn't going to move I got from my seat and went and sat by an empty desk next to...Lawrence.

He looked at me and begin to smirk. Others girls would blush crazily but me I scoffed and turned my attention back to the teacher.

Once she finished explaining everything she went and sat back at her desk and let us work on our stuff.

Everyone in the room was talking with there partner except for me. I had my arms crossed and refused to say a word to him.

"C'mon Alice! As much as I'd love to mess with you right now we gotta finish this project! I'm failing earth space science so help out will ya?"

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a blank piece of paper and began to write our names on it then label the phases of the moon.

The work was easy since we could use a textbook and since both of us were working together for once at something instead of being enemies.

Surprisingly we finished up quickly and had some free time to kill while we waited for class to end.

We both sat there as Lawrence began going back to messing with me and annoying the hell out of me.

I thought about the deal Julie was talking about but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I mean how do you even make a deal with someone who's life goal is to mess with you everyday? Exactly my point.

He then begin to poke me which got me to squirm since I'm ticklish and can't resist laughing or giggling.

"Someone's ticklish I see. That's good to know" he said with a sly grin.

"Just stop touching me before I accidentally touch and break your nose."

He chuckled and went back to calling me names while I doodled in my workbook thinking about how annoying he was being.

I sighed and put down my pencil and faced him. "What do you want?"

"Um...didn't we already go over this in the morning? Lets not repeat history."

"That's no what I'm talking about! I mean lets make a deal. If you leave me alone I'll do whatever you want me to as long as it isn't dirty minded."

I expected him to say or do anything but all I got from him was once again a weird and creepy grin on his face.

I knew I shouldn't have did this. What in the hell was I even thinking?! Why'd I even open my mouth?! Ugh!

While I battled with myself Lawrence finally spoke up and said "Since you'll do anything then be my girlfriend."

"You're what?!" I yelled loudly.

"Don't play stupid Alice. Y'know you heard me. So, deal or no deal?"

I needed time to over think this so boy was I glad when the bell ringed. I hurriedly grabbed my stuff and ran out of the classroom to the girls bathroom.

I stood next to the wall and tried to catch my breath but who could with what they've just been asked.

Ugh. I knew today wasn't going to go good and looks like I was right. Mondays. Are. The. Worst!!
