Grace's POV

I don't know how long I've been in this trance, staring at the motionless ceiling. My eyes searched the room every once in a while because my lonely thoughts made me feel as if someone was watching me. I check my phone to see the time and it's already 1:57 am. The last time I checked my phone was at 10:45 but time is slowly flying by.

I grab my remote and turn on my tv. The tv automatically turns on to some movie and I just sit there staring at the screen, wondering if the pixels of the tv have ever felt how I feel.

For the next few hours, I lay in my room silently and at 5:30 my alarm wakes me up from my nonexistent slumber. I stand up and go into my bathroom to do my makeup and cover my dark bags underneath my eyes. I look dead without makeup but then again I feel dead as well on the inside.

My make up is done within a couple of minutes and before I put my mascara on I look at my blank face. A few tears threaten my eyes and I begin to cry, just like everyday. If only people knew the everyday matter of my inner self they would know how fucked up and crazy I am.

I wipe my eyes and place on my dark mascara on my long eyelashes and as I finish up, my phone vibrates on my nightstand. I walk over and see that it's a text from William. My heart flutters at the thought of him texting me for some reason and a smile grows on my face as I read his message.

From: William
Good morning. I honestly hope you slept well.

I smile once more while typing a quick response back.

To: William
Good morning William. It makes me smile that you hope I slept well. I did. I hope you did and had sweet dreams of our day yesterday.

I laugh at my playful text and then decide to text him once more before he got the chance to respond.

To: William
Hey, I was wondering if I could get a ride to school today.

I shut my phone off and then make my way to my closet to choose an outfit. I choose a simple champagne pink dress with champagne pink shoes to match and gold accessories to contrast the look. I grab my bag that sits against my nightstand and I make my way downstairs.

Once I arrive downstairs, I see my older brother here. I rush over to hug him and he greets me with open arms. We hug for minutes on end and it makes me feel a little bit better about today.

"I didn't know that you were gonna be here this early!" I exclaim. My older brother, Brian, goes to Colorado State University with my older sister.

"I got an early flight but Abby has a later flight now. She should be here before you get home tonight." He says with a slight smile as if he just won a bet. As soon as he finishes his sentence my phone vibrates against my hip. I can tell that it's William. I open up my phone and read his message.

From: William
Yeah of course I can give you ride. How about I come get you in like 10 minutes? Sound good?

I reply immediately and send a quick 'okay' and 'thank you'.  Brian tells me that he's gonna go lay down since he had an early flight and is tired and I give him a big hug once more before I go sit in my foyer.

The open room once again gives me a lonely feeling on the inside and I wonder how long it'll be until William shows up. I stared at my phone and began to scroll through my twitter. Pictures of people who I was friends with showed up and I stared at them each for a while wondering where they had found their happiness and if I could once find mine.

I hear a car pull up into my driveway and I walk eagerly to the door. A bright smile is on my face. As I open the door, William is stepping up towards the entry way. I smile and he moves his unruly, chestnut brown hair out of his face.

"I was gonna come knock on the door and be a gentleman but it looks like you beat me to the door." He says with a small blush covering his face.

"Oh. I'm sorry. Nobody's ever really done that for me." I say and he looks at me with surprised eyes.

"Well you should be treated like a princess. I mean you look beautiful like one every day." He stares and a sudden embarrassing look comes over him. His kind words makes my eyes water up as my heart flutters.

"I'm am so sorry. I didn't mean to make this awkward." He says while staring down at the cement.

"That made my whole day a hundred times better than you can even imagine." I say while stepping down to meet him. His eyes stare into mine and we just stand there for a few seconds. He leads the way to his car and opens up my door for me as he always does before rushing over to his side.

"Ready?" He says with a smile on his face. I nod my head and we make our way to the school grounds.
