William's POV
I laid in bed and wondered about Grace battling her mental illness. I never realized because she was always so good at being happy yet again, she was the most talented actress in theater so she could pull of any part thrown at her. Yet this wasn't a part in a play, this was a serious issue that she had. We had been off the phone for now a couple of hours but she told me that she was willing to maybe try something to help not only her but us a couple. It made me happy to know that I was not the only one that had hope in us.
I walked downstairs to finally feed myself something for dinner. I checked in the pantry and the fridge seeing that I was practically out of all of my necessities which meant I was going to have to go to the store within town. I grabbed my BMW keys that laid down on the counter before walking out the front door and sliding into my sleek, black car. I made the short drive into town, hoping that I wouldn't see anyone that I personally knew. I was wearing a white tee shirt with black Nike sweats and black vans. Once I made my way to the local grocery store that I used to work at, I parked and got out into the cold air.
I grabbed a large, metal cart because I honestly didn't know how much I was going to buy. I walked down each aisle slowly, watching the people who passed me by. A lady with a baby boy walked past and I couldn't help but smile at the precious being. As I walked down the aisle filled with chips and other junk food that would satisfy my hunger cravings, I suddenly felt my cart collide with another's. I mentally cursed myself for doing something so embarrasing. I turned to look at who I collided with before the familiar feminine voice spoke up.
"William?" Brice, my ex who I hadn't seen in a couple of months, said with a surprised tone. I took in her appearance. She looked beautiful like always and she looked as if she had lost some weight from when I had last seen her. Her cheek bones were prominent as she smiled, showing her pearly white teeth and her brown eyes still sparkled. She was just as I remembered.
"Brice? Oh my gosh, hi!" I said shocked that she was actually standing in front of me.
"It's been a while since we've seen each other." She says while pushing a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear. I laughed and nodded while trying to rememeber the exact moment I last saw her.
...
I walked side by side with Brice to her car as we left the store together. She parked at the opposite side of the lot as I had but I didn't mind the walk to my car.
"Well it was really great to see you." She said while giving me an awkward side hug. I laughed and nodded before she spoke up once more.
"Hey, do you mind if I get your number? I was just kinda hoping that maybe we could hang out sometime soon." She said with a hopeful tone. I handed her my phone after unlocking it and she typed her number in swiftly before handing it back to me. We said our goodbyes and I reminded myself to text her later just so she could have my number once again.
I walked slowly to my car and as I did, my phone began to vibrate. I immediately picked it up hoping it was Grace on the other line.
"Hello?" I spoke into the phone quietly as an old lady passed me by.
"I'm so sorry I didn't call earlier. I was playing a card game with my family." She said while taking a long sigh. I smile knowing that she was having fun and spoke once again.
"It's okay. So what's up? Did you win?" I said cockily into the phone. I heard her giggle before she spoke up.
"Well I'm just sitting outside, looking at the stars and yes I did win. I won nearly all of the games we played except for one hand of poker." She says with a hint of disappointment. I laugh at her competitiveness silently and I speak up.
"Star gazing sounds great right now honestly." I say as I close the back seat door. I can tell she heard it close because she speaks up immediately afterwards.
"Where are you? It sounded like your car door just closed. Was I interrupting something?" Worry takes over her tone and I calm her down as soon as I speak up.
"I was just on my way home from the supermarket." I say while starting the car up. I hear her shift wherever she is and we remain silent as I drive home.
...
"Goodnight William. I'll talk to you tomorrow." Grace says into the phone with a yawn and before I can speak one last time, the call is over.
I place my phone on my nightstand after plugging it in to charge and I just stare at the ceiling. School was tomorrow and I didn't want to face everyone. Who knows what rumors could be spreading about Grace and I. I didn't want to ruin our chance and yet we had things that would stand against us. I eventually begin to fall asleep and once I do, terrible nightmares of Grace and I come into play.
That night I get zero to none sleep because of how much I force myself out of the horrendous dreams. I watch the sun slowly rise through my closed window and I wondered if Grace had catched sleep or if she had laid in her bed, awake from terrible things running through her pretty little head.
