The rain pounded down upon the land of Aron, lightning flashed and winds howled, tearing at the ears of a dark blue dragon. The dragon grunted, looking up at the sky, clutching his fragile cargo. Seethe held the cargo closer as he hurled himself into the storm, making sure he flew as low as possible so the lightning wouldn't hit him and char his body like a candle wick. He flew to a cave in the side of a mountain just in time to watch a tornado begin to reach toward the land, whipping up a wind that if you spread your wings, it would blow you away like a loose scroll. The dark blue dragon quickly used his satchel as a cushion and placed the delicate package on and grabbed a giant boulder to block the entrance to the cave. When he was done rolling the boulder into place so very little of the winds could seep through, he lit up the cave with his luminescent scales. What he saw was startling, he cried in surprise as he backed away from the illuminated face before him. He stumbled back, bumping into the carefully placed boulder. The dragon's face before him glowed with the greenish light emitting from his scales, the new dragon growled.

"Where did you get this?" the dragon growled, picking up the delicate object sitting on the satchel.

"Leave it alone! That egg is more important than you think!" Seethe shouted. The other dragon chuckled.

"Oh, I know. I know very well what this is for. It's that stupid prophecy my former tribe kept talking about. Oh, did they love old Talespeeker, the greatest prophetic seer in Aron. Worshipping every pathetic word she said, the fools." growled the dragon, his pupiless eyes gleaming in the light. His shadow grey scales gleaming in the greenish light, Seethe began to feel dizzy from the effort of keeping his scales glowing.

"I wonder what would happen if one of the two eggs didn't hatch..." mused the dragon, tapping the egg with one claw like you would with a desk.

"You wouldn't! Nobody hurts a dragon egg! Nobody!" Seethe cried, his voice betraying his desperation.

"Well, then. I guess I have to scratch that thought off the list. It's a shame, having to believe in two petty, whimpering brats to save Aron from certain doom." said the dragon, now tossing the egg around like a toy.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Seethe growled, watching the egg hop from talon to talon.

"Oh, all I want is world domination and, I don't know, your average war based apocolypse. Nothing much, just a little something I've been craving lately." said the grey dragon, turning the egg in his claws

"Who are you? Why do you want such a thing?" Seethe asked, growing more desperate each second. He felt like clawing the dragon in half, but pleading for the sake of the egg.

"Questions, questions, questions. Do you have anything else to say besides questions? It's quite annoying you know!" snarled the dragon, rolling his eyes.

"What do you want for the egg?" Seethe asked, feeling defeated. The grey dragon laughed, it sounded like boulders falling down a metal mountain and grinding into a thin layer of sand at the same time.

"Is tribe this humorous? I might just move their just to laugh at your stupidity!" chuckled the grey dragon. Seethe stared at him, then at the egg, his eyes flicking back and forth nervously, and growled. What was he to do? If he tried to make a move to retrieve the egg, the dragon could crush it and it would be all over. All his hard work and risk taking, down the drain. With just a splintering crack and the twist of an infant's neck, and it would be gone. The prophecy crushed along with the egg and the fluttering life inside the dark shell. The dragon watched him, then lit a bundle of sticks near the wall aflame. The fire burst into existence in a roar of flame, illuminating the room with its new born light. The dragon looked back to Seethe, and frowned.

"Your serious? What a way to ruin my fun. Like I said before, world domination and a war based apocalypse. Do you have any of those things?" asked the dragon. Seethe didn't say a word.

"I thought so. Oh, by the way. The name's Shadow." said the dragon. He threw the egg onto the ground, bits of shell and mucus like fluid splattered on the floor. The small dragonet's body flopped onto the floor like a rotten vegetable.

"NO!" Seethe cried, lunging at Shadow with outstretched claws. Shadow inhaled then grey tinted flames shot out from his mouth and engulfed Seethe. Seethe screamed as fire met scales. He fell to the floor beside the baby dragon's corpse, writhing in agony as the flames begin to eat at his scales like a hungry caterpillar does to a leaf. His scales darkened even darker than his original storm blue color. When Seethe stopped burning, he looked like a mangled sheep that had gotten too close to the heater.

"I'll leave you to your misery. Think about your miserable life and how your precious prophecy will never come true!" Shadow whispered in Seethe's ear. He threw up his head and laughed like an insane dragon, this time it sound like claws on a chalkboard, like a hyena was screaming its evil laugh. He sounded like a witch who had just taken control over the world. He walked out of the room, still laughing as he flew away.

Seethe coughed up blood, tears slid across his burnt face, the salt mixing with the wounds made it burn like it was pressed to hot embers. He whimpered in agony, just lying there, unable to do a thing.

"I am so sorry Seashell. I tried....I really did try. I am so sorry." Seethe muttered repeatedly until he spoke no more.

A dragon entered the cave to see two dragons lying on the floor, one black as night and at adult age, and one small and light blue and soaking in a pool of egg fluids. The red dragon walked over and nudged the big dragon for a response, but no response came. The dragon picked up a piece of shell and slithered back out of the cave and into the storm.

The dragon flew to a cave near the ground and knocked on a boulder twice.

"What's the password?" said a young dragon from inside.

"Swish! It's me! Storm! Gosh darn it, open the door!" Storm the Stormwing said, clutching the egg shell in her claws. The young dragon open the door to see Storm's grey scales, illuminated by a flash of lightning.

"Safety first! Come on in!" said Snakebite the Desertwing, the yellow dragon stepped to the side to let Storm in.

"What's the fuss about? I can hear you from a mile away! You might as well cause an avalanche, much less wake up the whole land!" said Heartburn the Flamewing. He limped into the room, since he lost his right front leg in the Great Scalding War ten years ago, and saw the egg shell.

"Moons darn it! Where are we going to get the wings of sea if we can't get a Tidewing egg? The Flamewing egg was already smashed two weeks ago and Moonstars was killed yesterday along with the second egg! Now the prophecy will never come true!" cried Heartburn.

"Seethe did have two more eggs, and they fit the description. In fact, their his own dragonets." suggested Snakebite.

"Seethe was a Seawing! He couldn't have had a Flamewing egg of his own! His mate was a Seawing!" cried Storm.

"Actually, he had eggs with his second mate who just happened to be a Flamewing. He asked her to hold onto them in case if they were needed. We have two days until the brightest night. I can bring them to the hideout and we can raise them there!" said Snakebite.

"Not bad kid." said Storm. Snakebite smiled.

"Well, no time to waste. Get them there before the two days are up. See you there!" said Heartburn, limping to the door.

"See ya!" cried Snakebite, flying out the door, followed by Storm and Heartburn. The three dragons disappeared into the night, the storm howling at them and pulling at their wings.
