*hi, you've reached Leanne Kelly. Sorry I can't come to the phone right now, but-*

I cut off the recording with a sigh. Of course she couldnt come to the phone. I glanced out the cab window. I was almost at my aunts house. I smiled in anticipation at the idea of seeing her again. Aunt Maggie was slightly eccentric, but she was also my best friend in the whole world. She was more of a mom to me than my mother ever was. She isn't exactly my aunt so much as she is my great aunt, but age difference doesn't matter with us. She still acts like she's a teenager, and whenever I'm around her, I feel like I'm the 72 year old.

"Here we are, miss. That'll be 24$" the cab driver says, jolting me out of my reverie. I handed him the money, Grabbed my bags and stepped out onto the sidewalk. I smiled slightly when I saw the little whitewashed cottage that looks so out of place in between bigger, shinier commercial houses. There was a tiny little square shaped garden in the front of the cottage, with a huge assortment of flowers growing in little flowerbeds and out of flower boxes.

I knocked on the little door tentatively, but no sooner had my knuckles touched the wood when it was flung open, and Aunt Maggie stood grinning at me in the door way.

"Aliana!" she squealed, jumping forwards and hugging me around the waist. The top of her curly white hair barely made it to my chin. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her. She stepped back and beamed up at me. "Oh my, you've grown! How was your flight? Good? I hope so. How's your mother? Oh wait, is that a sensitive subject? Ok, don't answer that then, because I don't particularly care anyway. Aw, you got so beautiful. I mean you've always been beautiful, darling, but you look stunning! So, got any boyfriends? I think I deserve to know! What's his name? Is..." the endless stream of questions seemed to flow from Maggie's mouth as I grabbed my bags and hauled them to the room I always stay in when I'm at her house. I turn and silence her with a look.

"Maggie, I'm here all summer. We have plenty of time for questions." I say, while shaking my head and smiling. Maggie pouts. "Oh, you're no fun."

I smile patiently and walk to the kitchen to make her a cup of tea. As I wait for the kettle to boil I lean against the stove and begin to answer some of her questions. "The flight was fine, but long. It takes longer than I expected to get from Ireland to the US. Moms fine, as far as I know. I haven't spoken to her since yesterday morning and she wont answer her phone. And no, Maggie. No boyfriends."

Maggie groaned in exasperation. "Aliana! Why can't you have a boyfriend?! Don't you see how much more interesting it would make our lives?! I could give you love advice!" her eyes shone in excitement at the prospect of controlling my love life. I glanced at her to see if she was joking, but clearly, she wasn't.

"Uhhh.. Ok.. I think I'll just run down to the shop to get some milk." I said quickly, and flashed her a smile. Maggie's brows furrowed. "But you just got here, Ali. And you don't like milk. And what if you get lost?"

I was already halfway out the door, but turned and smile at her. "Maggie, I've been coming to Michigan every summer for the past 8 years. I won't get lost, I promise. And I may not like milk, but you like it in your tea" I smiled again and jogged down the path. I smiled as I walked down the familiar streets and past the familiar shops and buildings. I reached the corner store that Maggie and I have been frequenting since as long as I can remember and smile. I open the door, and walk straight into another persons chest.

"Oof! Oh I'm so sorry, I-" I blurted, looking up to see who I had barrelled into. I was looking straight into warm chocolate brown eyes, with dark hair that framed a crooked-jawed face and fell almost the guys shoulders.

I knew instantly who I was looking at. It was none other than Joey Richter.
