Shed A Light | Chris + Eva

Episode 05.10

Chris and Eva didn't really talk since the day he helped her, but that didn't mean they weren't thinking about each other.

"So, is Chris going to go to Emma's party?" Vilde asked Eva as they were getting ready. Emma was a girl from first, but she had invited all of them to her party, along with many third years and older people too.

Eva shrugged, busy trying to brush on mascara. "I don't know. Why are you asking me?"

"Well, you two have been hooking up at every party, I just figured you'd know." Vilde explained.

"Not every party." Eva protested, but then a thought passed through her mind. "Why do you care if Chris is going?"

Vilde blushed a little at this, avoiding eye contact with Eva. "No reason."

"You want to hook up with him, don't you?" Eva realized, and normally she would have encouraged her friend to do so, but she felt a weird sensation at the thought of Chris hooking up with Vilde. "Are you seriously that desperate for a hook up?" She didn't mean it to sound condescending or judgemental, although it might have come out that way.

"What? Is it so wrong of me to want to hook up with someone? Even Chris is hooking up with Kasper." Vilde pointed out, defending herself.

"So that's what it's about." Eva realized. "You're jealous of Chris and Kasper and that's she has a boyfriend and you don't?" It was more of a statement rather than a question.

Vilde sighed. "Maybe. I just miss having someone."

Eva could understand that, she missed having someone too. She moved over to put a hand on her friend's shoulder. "I understand. But trust me, Chris is not the someone you're looking for."

"Seems to work for you." Vilde commented, eyeing her friend.

Eva laughed it off. "It's just hooking up, Vilde, when we're drunk. It seriously means nothing."

But Vilde wasn't convinced. "Well I've never seen Chris hook up with the same girl twice at parties. Except for you."

"So?" Eva raised her eyebrows.

"So? So, he must like you more than the others." Vilde exclaimed. "He even saved you from the police at your party, remember that? I don't think he'd do it for anyone else."

"Maybe the drugs were really his." Eva suggested, although she knew fully well they weren't.

Vilde rolled her eyes, smiling a little. "If you don't want to admit it, fine, but I won't try to hook up with Chris tonight." This made Eva let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "And I'm not going to because I know it would hurt you, even if you don't realize it now."

But Eva did realize it, and she smiled at her friend, pulling her into a hug. "By the way, I'm hugging you because you made the right choice not to hook up with a random guy when you're looking for a serious relationship, not because of the Chris thing." She felt the need to explain, which made Vilde laugh through their hug.

Once Eva was on her own, as Vilde had left to go to the bathroom, she pulled out her phone to send a text.

The curner's of Eva's lips turned upwards into a small smile.

"You're out of toilet paper." Eva jumped at the sound of Vilde's voice, and she threw the phone onto her bed. "Everything okay?" Vilde raised her eyebrows at her friend's weird behaviour.
